Mrsevilpigeon pointed me to your story and she was so right:-)
Max and Logan getting married-stories naturally have a tendency to be overly sweet but this is just right, believable and matching the tone of the show - especially with Max’s reasoning for marrying in boots, which on top of it is an amusing scene.
Of course I love the whole M/Lness of it but perhaps more interesting are the changes in Alec after Rachel’s death. Fascinating to see how he acts like the more mature, older sibling, giving Max advice. I especially liked these parts:
"Nothing to be sorry for," he said brusquely. "But you've got some funny ideas about love, kid." Acting more mature, like the older sibling, calling Max kid “Alec leaned in and whispered in her ear, like he was sharing a secret. "Well, take a lesson from me. It's not always about making a sacrifice. Sometimes it's about taking a risk.”
Such a cool idea to make Joshua a “walking, talking anti-venom."
Looking just as confused, Logan glanced down at his hands. "I was gonna

You’re welcome and sorry LJ swallowed your reply (happened to me once too often, now I’m the total control freak and type everything in word)
I really found fascinating what you did with Alec, this kind of character development and the conflicts of Manticore colliding with the real world is what I would have liked to see much more in S2. So of course I’d be interested in your reasons - never too much fic-discussion:-)
Thanks for the link - always great to see Max’s thoughts on Eyes Only.(And oh, you write Avatar, too - makes yours the first fic in that fandom I've ever read (not like I need another obsession))
What I originally was saying about Alec was that I found it interesting that both he and X5-453 told Max that she'd had it easy on the outside, compared to what they'd gone through at Manticore and on missions. (Not that I necessarily buy that - they didn't really know what she'd been through on the outside.) Also, there seemed to me a subtle shift in Alec and Max's relationship after she confessed to him about Ben. So, for those two reasons, I can see Alec feeling that sort of older brother vibe.

I totally agree. There was so much further for this show to go - such a shame it was cancelled!
And oh, you write Avatar, too
Well... I wrote Avatar. That once. I love the show, but it's a little difficult to capture. But I'm delighted to meet someone else who likes it! The most recent season has been fabulous.
