I know exactly what you mean! I think it might be his smirk. And his long hair (although he doesn't have that anymore). And possibly the leather jacket.

He gives off this aura that says he likes himself but isn't friendly. That's accomplishing a lot with a smile.

Yeah, it's definitely that smile, and the look in his eyes. Way too self-affirming to be trusted. :(
