The NY Times did about 5000 words on this on Wednesday...apparently it was on Dateline NBC a couple of weeks ago.

I blame the charter schools.

Ah, I guess the BBC is slow, damn. But still...I don't care how short you are, there's a huge difference between a man who is almost 30 and a pre-teen. I just can't fathom why no one thought, "Hmm, why does that child have so much stubble?"

he shaved during the day and applied make-up copiously...and charter schools are the refuge of the unenlightened;-)

Is that true? He used makeup? And I don't know anything about charter schools so I'll take your word for it. :)

And: hee! Just noticed your icon. :)

I think the best part about this is the men he slept with (the ones who posed as his guardians, ages 61 and 45) complaining that he wasn't really a twelve year old boy. That's not something you should share with the world at large, guys.

He slept with his supposed guardians?

Yup. The article on CNN talks about their reactions.

Thanks for the link. Methinks I need to do my homework before posting articles. :)

Yeah, I was very weirded out when I saw that story. I don't know if it says it in this article, but of the three men he was living with, he knew one from prison and was sleeping with the other two while they thought he was a 12 year old boy. Gross.

I work at a charter school in Arizona, but we're one of the few decent ones that is really strict about who we let in. I don't think he'd be able to get past us.. at least, I hope not.

Wow, I didn't realize there were so many layers to this story. The more I find out, the weirder it is. Yeesh.
