So, Leon and I went to see his favorite band, the Celtic-influenced rock group Carbon Leaf, in San Francisco last night, and they were pretty awesome. I was once again on the fence about the coolness of lead singer Barry Privett, as I watched him try to rock it out while simultaneously acting completely touched by his own lyrics. It was a ( Read more... )

That's awesome you were able to find it! Of course, what kind of Ask.com employee would be if you couldn't? You know all of the ins and outs.

Were you able to find it for download anywhere?

I downloaded the Led Zeppelin version; I'm not sure a (legal) Carbon Leaf one exists. There might be some concert bootleg but it appears they've never put it out on a recording, although they've been performing it since 2004, possibly longer.

I'm somewhat satisfied with the LZ recording but I'd really like the other.

I had a neighbor for a long time who had a Carbon Leaf bumper sticker on his Saturn. I always wondered what Carbon Leaf was. Why I didn't just Goo-- I mean, Ask Jeeves -- about it, I don't know. That must have been just slightly before my everything-can-be-found-through-search-engines reflex kicked in!

I love bands that can rock out with non-rockin' instruments.

Haha, at least you caught yourself! I can't blame people for using "google" as a verb because it's just completely ingrained in them. I say "Kleenex" when I'm talking about Puffs or store brands. It just happens, and I suppose I could start a campaign to end "googling" but not likely.

Plus, you demonstrated it well...ours just doesn't translate into a verb. But, this made me smile. :)

BUH! I thought I was the only person I knew who had heard of Carbon Leaf! They're one of my absolute favorites! I'm seeing them later this month at Blueberry Hill!

Cool! But, Blueberry Hill?! Granted we saw them in a very small venue and I've only been to Blueberry Hill to eat and so I don't know how they set up for a performance but...that just seems tiny and completely inappropriate for Carbon Leaf. Like booking Hedwig and the Angry Inch in a salad bar.

Okay, not QUITE.

There's a room downstairs that's set up for small-venue-type shows. It's small, but it works. Besides, that just means I get to creep up right against the stage. LOL!

Ah, is that where they always do performances? No wonder! Cuz I wasn't sure how they'd move all those booths. :P

You can buy the song on iTunes under Carbon Leaf iCover 1.4

You can also find their version of I'm on Fire, Screen Door and Dear Prudence.

Yes, I am a CL nerd.
