Well, he didn't carry through with it. At least not in my case.

I agree with you that there's a difference but he certainly drove home the point that we should be as accurate as possible and not try to impress him by acting modest.

I think in this case and with my review, it really is important to be accurate and not shy away from giving yourself a good grade just because you think it'd be nicer to say, "Aw, shucks. I don't think I deserve more than a 'B.'"

i had a teacher in college who did that same thing, only in a nicer way. we had to write what we thought we should earn as our grade in his class on a piece of paper. and he graded us accordingly. but i really don't think there was any sort of lesson involved...i think he just wanted to see how we graded ourselves. ;-)

i hate self evaluations. i'm sure that i perceive myself differently than how others perceive me!

I'm not entirely sure why a teacher would ask his students to grade themselves. Doesn't it just create more work for him?

Anyway, I got my self evaluation done but I have yet to hear back what my manager thinks. That could take a couple of weeks...:-\
