Guinea Pig Hair

Jan 25, 2006 14:33

As you've surely seen in past photos, Milo's hair gets really long. The lady who ran the rescue where we got him said she wanted to cut it all off but kept it a little long so people would think he was cute and adopt him. It worked for us ( Read more... )

I'm not sure that the pictures fully showcase the spikey-ness on top of his head. Oh, the spikey-ness!

Nuthing wrong with spikey fur. Don't think of it as a mullet, think of it as a mohawk.

Yeah he definitely looks 80s but maybe he is a bit more punk rawk.

Or at least, Joan Jett.

I said "no," but you know, I don't really know exactly what guinea pigs look like normally anyway, except small and furry. He still looks small and furry.

Guinea pigs have several possible hairstyles ( Louis is sleek and Chester has sort of a spikey tufted thing going on), but the kind of pig that Milo is has long, luxurious hair. If that helps any.

I couldn't distinguish guinea pigs from the rest of the rodents until Leon piqued my interest in the pig variety.

Cuteness. I so should have gotten a guinea pig instead of a hamster and some mice back when I was going through my rodent phase.

Yes! When was this rodent phase? I still recommend guinea pigs as great pets that aren't too much work, although they need a lot of space and poop more than their body weight every day (slight exaggeration).

Also, they eat tons of hay and I am actually allergic, so I think I'm going to be blowing my nose and wheezing until I am no longer a pig mommy. Claritin helps, but it never goes completely away.

My rodent phase was, I dunno, maybe eight years ago or so. I think I still had a roommate at the time. My roommate at the time had (and may still have, if they live that long) a pet lizard which was extremely unfriendly. It liked to bite.

Hamlet Hamster liked to bite too, but his jaws were not as strong as the lizard's. It was a big lizard.

Anyway ... Hamlet looked cute, but he wasn't friendly either. From what I hear, Guinea pigs are much friendlier than hamsters. I wish someone in the pet shop had told me that. But they probably didn't have Guinea pigs. It wasn't that big of a store. They didn't even have pet mice; the mice I bought were meant for feeding snakes.

Mullet or not, he's adorable! How's his temper? I've been told guineas were kinda nasty at times. I have rats, and we all know they have bad reputations!

Two of our pigs fight between each other, and one bit the other badly enough that they're separated now for good. But towards humans, they display no bad temper at all. And Milo, the one in the picture, is very meek, even toward other guinea pigs.

You voted no to that mullet but you took those pictures so I think we both know where your heart truly lies.
