June had been running outside as part of her workout regimen. The game keeper of the campus was typically seen as a drunkard, but running and keeping in shape was necessary for keeping rum calories off her slim frame. She was not expecting to see someone working as hard as she was, but since she noticed it was a student, June had hoped it was for a different reason.
She noticed the pink-haired Ravenclaw pounding the fine stuffing out of a spelled dummy. After watching her fall, June had stopped running by and began to walk towards her. Leaning over her and looking her over, June said, "How's it going, pinky?"
Sakura spun, sweat-slick hair sticking to her face as she avoided a hit from the dummy. Block. Block. Blockblockblock, duck, elbow to the gut--
Damn Galatea. Intellectually, Sakura knew that the older girl was only teasing (albeit in a hurtful sort of way), but she reminded the pink-haired girl far too much of others, whose words had not been so teasing, and of a Sakura Haruno who could beat her way out of a paper bag.
But Sakura wasn't that girl anymore. That didn't mean she should walk around snapping at people, however, so she'd come to work out some of her excess energy by proving to herself that she was still awesome.
Punch, punchpunch, knee up, spin, kickkickjumpkick--Sakura cried out in surprise as a voice startled her out of her fight-induced reverie, the dummy succeeding in landing a painful kick to Sakura's gut in her distraction. She grit her teeth against the throb, getting a hold thing by the chest and slamming her fist into it as hard as she could
( ... )
June watched Sakura carefully as she pounced around at the dummy. She admired the young girl's tenacity and physicality, and could understand the mistakes that she was making (including taking her eye off an active fighting dummy).
"Yeah, sorry about that. I guess I couldn't read your name written on your...anything. I'm June, the game keeper. And you are?" June inquired as she watched the dummy twitch and try to stuff its fillings back in from its last injury.
Without looking at the thing, Sakura performed the counter-spell to deactivate the dummy.
"Oh! No, uhm, it's fine." Sakura was suddenly overly aware of the several stupid mistakes she'd made while fighting her own construction. "I'm Sakura. I don't - I don't think we've ever met before?" She checked several pockets before finally finding what she was looking for - her ribbon to tie her hair back.
