Kyp felt her approaching, midway through marking some essay, and briefly debated jumping out the window. Flying without a broom was awkward, however, and he wasn't entirely certain that he could actually get to the window before she entered the room.

"It's unlocked," was all he said, wetting his quill in the ink again and scrawlling a 'T' in the upper right corner of the essay.

Alyss opened the door, stepped inside, closed it behind her. It was all very mechanical and rehearsed and too much like deja vu for her liking. Her arms crossed over her chest as she stood in the middle of the room, watching him.

"You're busy," she said in lieu of greeting, but she didn't announce that she would simply dismiss herself. Try to come back later.

This was already uncomfortable.

He flipped the essay over and reached for another one, not looking up to acknowledge her. The Shuckle was notably absent from the room, off with one of the students.

"You've got something to say." There was no point in continuing the charade any more, not now that she'd brought this to a confrontation. It might - all right, probably would have - served to irritate her that much more, but for some reason Kyp couldn't quite bring himself to cut those last few ties. He didn't want to examine that thought any closer, so he examined the essay before him instead. A little better.

"Yes. I do." She blinked, somewhat eased that he had gone ahead and given her the opening to begin to speak. The moment, though, that she had the chance to talk, the words died. Her eyes averted so that she was staring at the floor.

It was all so ridiculous.

Alyss looked up again, sighing softly. "We're acting ridiculous. All this avoiding and becoming needlessly angry, which I admit is mostly on my part," she finally said. "Not that your actions don't warrant that sort of behavior from someone, but it is still needless."

Emotions were ridiculous, Alyss had decided.
