As promised, Zell had a costume just for Squall folded nicely into his book bag (to look inconspicuous, y'know?) once he headed on into the dormitories. He flashed Squall a grin and a wave. "Sup, man? Figures you wouldn't be goin' to the party," he said casually.

Thankfully, their beds were fairly nearby so he could get close without looking suspicious. As he passed Squall's bed, he turned and called out, "Rinoa, c'mon!"

He stood on the other side of Squall, just making sure he wouldn't be able to escape. It was for his own good!

If all he wanted was a quiet night, he shouldn't have posted that journal entry that came across as a challenge to Rinoa. Saying /Don't bother me/ had the same affect as saying /I dare you to bother me/. She read it as him telling her that he wasn't going to the party and there was nothing she could do about it. Why single her out like that unless he was proving some kind of point?

They've been butting heads and having the same argument for long enough that she immediately sprang into action without even taking a moment to think about how crazy her reasoning of the situation was. And the more he resisted... the more she wanted to keep pushing. Eventually she realized that her usual straight forward method wasn't getting her any where, so she called on Zell for assistance.

And that is how she came to follow Zell to the room dressed in her Pirate costume. No sooner did she get the word that she was clear to enter, she strolled into the room. A couple steps past the doorway, she spotted Squall and pointed her prop sword at him. Then ( ... )

Were he anyone else, Squall might have just sat there and laughed at their ridiculousness. Maybe he would have been a little alarmed were he anyone else.

But this was Squall.

He glanced up at Zell blocking the way off his bed. He glanced at Rinoa looking completely and utterly ridiculous... and then he went right back to his book, ignoring them both. Maybe if he just sat there and shut up, they'd go away.

Rinoa's entrance was enough to make Zell laugh, but Squall seemed rather unaffected by the whole thing. Well, at least he wasn't trying to run. That made this a little bit easier. Zell kept grinning and opened up his book bag. Out of it, he pulled a Phantom of the Opera costume and a nice mask to go with it.

"Even brought you a costume! Awesome, huh?"

He held it out, hanging it front of Squall's book so he'd have to do something if he wanted to keep reading.
