WHO: Harry, open to fellow Gryffindors LOCATION: Gryffindor 5th year boys dorm WEEK: 69 TIME: Afternoon WHAT: Harry contemplates absent friends RATING: G
Mulan had been surprised when her Head of House had left. It had... hurt, in so many ways. Professor Tilman-Sinclair had been the main member of the staff that she had really been open with for so long, at least before the others - minus Jasmine - ever knew
( ... )
Glancing up when he heard footsteps, Harry tried to summon a smile for Mulan when she glanced in, knowing full well how much his fellow Gryffindor tended to worry. While it was a little wane, the expression managed to be genuine enough in the face of Harry's desire not to be alone at that moment.
"If those cookies are chocolate chip than absolutely," he joked weakly.
"With just the right amount of chips.",she assured, offering up a slight smile of her own as she walked in and sat down next to him. As with most of her Hogwarts friends and family over time, she had taken note to bake them to the best of his standards. Without even spilling a drop, she swiftly poured him a cup of tea - just how he liked it - and served him some of the cookies. She was in her sisterly mode, and so help if anyone interrupted or tried to distract her from that.
"You don't have to force a smile for me.",she reminded him softly, pouring a cup of tea for herself.
"You're an angel," Harry replied affectionately, waiting with uncharacteristic patience for his tea to be poured. Mulan always had an aura about her that made you want to trust her and believe she knew what she was doing. People who could inspire faith in Harry were rare these days.
"I've been told smiling more helps me keep a positive outlook." Taking the tea, Harry wrapped his fingers around the cup to warm them, staring into the murky depths of the cup. Sam had been the one to tell him that. Sam who was now on an extended medical leave. Hell's bells even his therapist had issues. That was sickly hilarious.
Because we don't have enough logs. But dammit she misses them toodriftingtidesOctober 25 2010, 01:31:56 UTC
The door swung open slowly, the heavy wood gliding across the carpet surprisingly loud in the thick silence. Kairi peeked her head around the doorframe, spotted Harry, and smiled
( ... )
If she had been anyone other than Kairi, anyone still at the school anyway, Harry would have probably pulled away from the sudden intrusion of his personal space. Anyone other than the sunny redhead who had become so involved in his life that it was hard to imagine a time before her would not have been allowed to touch him so intimately.
With Kairi, though, the touch was welcome, not a source of fear or cause for suspicion. Instead of flinching away, he just lay his head against hers, and offered his own, "Hey."
Kairi's motives for snuggling weren't completely altruistic. She herself got a lot of comfort from close contact, and she figured they could both do with a good dose of comfort right then. She rested against him in silence for a moment, trying to find a happy silver lining to comment on.
It was surprising how quickly you missed someone after they left.
"It's too quiet," She commented softly. "I feel like we should jump around and shout."
Harry sat contemplating the silence with her, feeling the weight of her body against his. She was right of course, it was far too quiet in a dorm that was supposed to be full of life, but for a a few moments more Harry seemed to have nothing to say.
