Ren. Open. Hospital Wing.chainedlotusSeptember 6 2010, 05:58:01 UTC
In retrospect, it wasn't that long since the fighting started but, when in the middle of it, each day seemed to drag on forever. All the panic and pain that was delivered only really happened in a few measly hours and now it was done and over with as the last inferi fell and Ultimecia was defeated.
Now he had something else to worry about. Catty told him to stay out of trouble and now she was going to see him in a hospital bed.
Admittedly, the leg had been fixed now thanks to a few strong healing spells and he was just advised to stay off it for the rest of the day. It still didn't help that he got himself caught up in it and have it broken in the first place which was what Catty was going to be upset with him about.
Maybe his fellow recovering students could distract him from the impending lecture he was going to get.
It was interesting to see how it was now, six months later. Last time this happened it was Ren sitting on the chair while Catty was resting after being attacked by Belladonna. She didn't look that great now either as he glanced at her and took in how much damage had happened to her.
“It’s fine now,” Ren insisted, moving so he could stand up. Ignoring there was a slight limp in his step to keep his weight off his injured leg, he stood next to his girlfriend, “In fact, why don’t we change places. You can rest in that bed and I’ll sit over here being grateful you’re in one piece.”
Not as much damage as he had taken, apparently. Though her hand had been broken at one point, until Sakura had fixed it up for her. She wasn't actually going to mention this, because really, her injuries weren't bad in the least. It was just using up all that magic that was the problem.
"Get back in that bed before I hit you," Catty mumbled flatly, thinning out her lips, eyebrow arching as if daring him to defy her request. "I've been resting just fine this weekend."
If he had known about her broken hand, he really didn't see how this was any different. The spells they had to heal bones made it easier and it wasn't really a problem to him anymore. His leg was fine and, if it wasn't for the bandages wrapped around it and the crutch beside his bed, Catty likely wouldn't have known what happened to him.
Still, he listened to her and sat back down on the bed but quirked an eyebrow up at her in return, "This weekend we've been under attack. How could you have been resting during it?" He for one didn't get a wink of sleep the last two days.
"Slept in the halls with Sakura," Catty mumbled, remembering collapsing across Sakura's lap as they rested against the king zombie, passing out completely.
She'd ended up in the hospital after that, getting a potion to help restore her, and a couple of hours of rest had been plenty before she'd felt slightly better. Enough to head back out there, anyway.
"When you're tired, you'll get rest." Or when you were so at the end of your rope that you just couldn't even stay awake. Passing out was just as good as sleeping, right?
Letting out a sigh at her answer, Ren shifted over and patted the spot on the bed beside him. "A nap in the halls doesn't count." He wanted her to get some decent sleep as much as she wanted him to stay in bed. This way, they could both get what they wanted.
Until the nurse spots them and kicks one of them out of the bed and into another one. But, for some reason, Ren didn't think that either the small Asian woman nor the red head would actually do that.
"It so counts. We were knocked out." Catty rolled her eyes, hesitating for a minute before getting out of the chair and sitting on the bed instead. She grabbed his hand, threading her fingers with his, before sighing. "Why couldn't you have just stayed put, Ren? Or left? It's hard to worry about you and take care of myself at the same time!"
Three guesses to figure out which one she did more.
That was an easy one to answer, "Because if I'd left, I would have been going crazy wondering if you were going to be okay." He knew even without him to worry about, she wouldn't be thinking about taking care of herself anyways. "Sorry," Ren mumbled as he rested his head slightly on hers, "I didn't mean to be on my own in the middle of it."
"Better you going crazy than getting attacked." It was such a simple thing to see, so why couldn't he just agree? Just a 'Yes, Catty, you were right.' He was going to be the death of her. "Just don't do it again, okay? It would make me really happy if you just stayed where you said you would be!"
Because if this situation was flipped around and he asked her to stay put, she wouldn't have listened to him either. Ren wasn't a fighter but at the same time he wasn't willing to stay behind while someone he cared about went off. They were not going to see eye to eye on this one but, it was over so maybe it can be put behind them.
"I know. But, I didn't want Konohamaru running off into the fight on his own."
Catty was a fighter, a protector, so of course she wouldn't have listened to him. She should have just knocked him out and carried him to the train when she had the chance. But it was done and over with' they had won this battle, and that was the important thing. And she'd come back in a surprisingly better condition than when Ghost Widow had hold of her.
There was a big smile on her face at the mention of Konohamaru. "I trust him to be able to take care of himself. He's stronger than me."
And if she had done that, he would come back ridiculously angry with her. Luckily it didn't come to that and instead, he was with her being slightly guilty.
Ren sighed, "Yeah, I can believe that now." Up until they left the common room, Ren simply thought the boy was shouting nothing but hot air but, the kid proved himself to be a good fighter who was actually aware of his surroundings. "Kid ended up protecting me more than my attempt to be decent back up."
Better to be ridiculously angry than hurt. Catty could live with that.
"Maybe you should learn to fight, Ren," she said in an all too serious tone. Catty meant it. "You could get help from Sam for Defense Against the Dark Arts or something. Nothing hard, but it would... Be helpful. Far too many things happen in Hogwarts for you to not be able to defend yourself enough." Because she just wanted him to be safe, to let herself not worry as much for him as she did whenever she wasn't around him.
It took a second of listening for Ren to decipher that tone of voice meant that he had absolutely no choice in the matter. Catty did tend to do that. Suggest something to him with a tone meaning that he was going to do what she was suggesting because even though it's his choice, it better damn well be agreeing with her.
"Or I could attend Shalice's class a bit more?" Ren suggested. He was in the class because he was semi-decent at mental magic. He just learned at a young age that him with a wand was not a good combination.
Catty was good at that tone and asserting her will so that people would listen to her, would take her seriously. And she was dead serious about it.
"I guess... But I think you should try to learn some spells that can help you. Seriously." If he was going to be stubborn and worry about her well-being, it really could benefit him to know how to defend himself. In any way.
Yes and Ren having been dating her for six months now, could recognize that tone rather easily. Plus he wasn't one to argue with her when he heard it.
With a bit of a sigh, he nodded, "Okay. If you think I should, I'll start taking the class." Ren wasn't going to go ahead and go against her request. It's just another class that he would rarely go to.
