Sulu's just here to record all of this, because when Bones gets back to normal someone has to tell him that he was a cowboy named Lennie aka Muscles who played guitar and sang country music. So she plopped down on the ground beside Bones to listen. And maybe hum backup. After all, they could harmonize really well after that time they all sang together in the library.

Cowboy McCoy gives Miss Sulu a polite nod before he continues to the next verse.

"Lady, please take a seat.
Down, by this campfire retreat.
I have steak and other food compiled,
The smoke, will make it taste mild."

"Do you know Free Bird?" She asks, resting her chin on her knees, unable to supress a grin.

McCoy stopped his song, turning to her with a look of confusion. He wasn't quite sure what the pretty missus meant, having been denied 'that damn rock music' throughout most of his life on the homeranges of...Georgia and Mississippi.

"'Fraid not. All I gots the songs I wrote myself," he paused, offering her the jug of moonshine, "This'll warm you up."

It didn't quite matter that it was a breezy, warm night and that they were in front of fire. When on the range, one always drank moonshine to warm the bones.

Finally Brietta had managed to escape those dungeon walls, still unsure of who her captors had been. The clean crisp night air made her feel lighter than she had in several hours. Drawing a deep breath she let it replenish her both in piece of mind and spirit. It seemed as though no one was chasing after her... then perhaps this had not been a trap after all?

Smiling lightly, she gazed up at the brilliant twinkling stars basking in their glow.

But something.. interrupted her nighttime revelry. Melodic? Lyrical? The sound of someone singing in a foreign tongue, foreign to her own anyway, drew her nearer. Brietta stationed herself behind the singer, hoping not to draw his attention while still listening to his unique song. It might not have been the most wonderful song she'd ever heard but for some reason she couldn't draw herself away. Elves, also had their own songs... perhaps the two species had more in common than she thought..?

Cowboy McCoy halted the last strum of his song when he heard footsteps approaching, palm muting the reverberating pitch as his eyes darted around. A hand went to his side, and he cursed at finding his firearms still missing. Goddarned spells.

He stood, eyebrows narrowed.

Bandits.

"Listen here, you come out in the open with yer hands where I can see 'em and no one's gonna git hurt."

The man stopped playing his stringed instrument and began to speak. She involuntarily drew back for a moment, surprised by the sudden change. Why did everyone here speak the same language.... English was not the elf's strong suit. Elven or Gaelic would have been easier... but no no they all had to speak English.

Against her better judgement, Brietta walked forward and slowly weaved around until she was within the singer's sight. If he had an appreciation for the arts, then he couldn't be all bad. A little rough around the edges, sure.

Brietta looked delicate in comparison, her pale skin and light purple hair gleaming in the star's light. Most notably she possessed a set of pointed ears [ooc:...lols a little on the inside], her dress ornate and in dark rich colors. Pointing to herself with one index finger she said," Brietta". Then she took the same finger and pointed at him a questioning look in her eyes.

Walking was nice. So very nice, in fact, that Elaine had found herself halfway around the school before she realized she might be a tad lost. Lost was alright too, though, since everything was just so nice and cheery and peaceful. She was really enjoying herself.

And listen! The sound of music was coming from just over there. Following her ears, Elaine came across a quaint little campfire, with a boy in a rather large cowboy hat serenading the stars. She giggled, walking towards him. "Did you write that song?"

Cowboy McCoy looked up, a small, earnest smile making its way to his face at the arrival of another newcomer, "I s'pose I did," he said humbley, a hand going to awkwardly scratch the back of his neck. "I got others," he offered, almost shyly.

"Really?" Her face lit up in the kind of genuine smile that had not graced her features since... well, many months. She took a few steps forward, hands clasped behind her back. "Can I join you and listen?"

Actually, she was already settling down a little to the left of him, close enough to the fire to enjoy the flames without getting too uncomfortably warm.

Given the general craziness that had consumed the castle--something she was sure she'd come to find normal at some point--Serena had taken to the grounds for some much needed peace. Walking was good for clearing one's head, especially when one's head could be filled with the thoughts of several other students at once. What she was not expecting to find, was a fire and a singing cowboy.

Life...really just kept getting stranger around here, didn't it? Still, she liked this song, and her head was sufficiently thought free for the moment, she could very well join him for a while if she wanted to. "Nice singing, partner," She smiled, drawing close to the fire. "Mind if I join in?"

Cowboy McCoy shifted, his guitar going to the other side of him as he moved to the right to make room for the pretty little lady.

He smiled back, "Not at all, miss." The fire crackled, light flooding the area for a moment before it dampered back, "Not much else compares to like singing next to a pretty lady on nights like tonight."

He tipped his hat to her.
