It was nearing after hours and Kazumi was making her way back to the Ravenclaw dorms. She wasn't too worried about encountering teachers, she may not have been a Slytherin but she could be just as sneaky as them sometimes. Kazumi kept to the less used passageways and shortcuts, her ears alert to sounds. It was an old castle though, so it was hard to go quickly when every small creak made her pause to listen.

Plus, the worse case scenario was she'd be caught and she could fib that she was out catching a first year who was out of bed. Being a prefect had it's perks.

Kazumi almost passed the boy in the window without noticing him. However, she did and since she wasn't expecting someone to be seated at the window at this time of night she nearly jumped out of her skin. Managing, at least, not to shout.

The sounds of footsteps knocked the Darkness out of his reverie, turning his head slightly and cocking his eyebrow at the stranger, not knowing in truth how to speak to her. She seemed taller than his Host, but she was obviously startled to see him.

...He did recall something his Host had mentally mentioned about a curfew, though the Darkness himself rarely regarded it. This was the time he was often forced out, and in a state of wanderlust would wander the halls, staring out the windows.

He blinked at her once, crimson eyes simply...watching, curiously.

Kazumi recovered quickly. A mysterious figure in the hallway at night. A chance encounter. Is this figure friend or foe? Kazumi ran the title in her head. Generally if she was shocked or surprised by something she would immediately fall into reporter mode. Concocting stories and headlines that could be made out of what she was dealing with. Call it a personality quirk, but it is probably what led to her next action.

"Yo. What brings you out tonight? Planning on breaking some rules or just sneaking around for the hell of it?" She was tempted to pull out a camera and get some blackmail material, but figured she could wait to see what his reasons were...and to make sure he wasn't suspecting something.

Hm. She was asking questions--and again, there was that 'rules' thing. So apparently there was a curfew in this place...and even then, it would be obvious that he might have looked a little suspicious. Even though he looked like his host, he still had a much older feel...and Ren was able to easily deduce that they were different people...

Hm. Come to think of it, this was how he met Ren, too. Meeting by chance in a hallway.

He gave her a neutral stare, before glancing away.

"I just wished for some quiet." He said in his usual deep baritone. "The students in the dorm sleep quite loudly."

He's spent the whole day outside trying to understand the spells in the book tucked under his arm, there had been some progress but nothing grand. Nothing he was happy of. Keeping his head down as he makes his way slowly through the halls back to the House they had assigned him, back to that loud and strange room filled with louder and stranger people.

To say the least he really hadn't been expecting to come across anyone at this hour, filling that everyone would be in bed. So Ruka can't help but stop and stare at the figure in the window.

... Tilting his head, as if trying to listen for something.

Another person, another time for someone to distract him. Not that there was something to distract him from. He turned his head, crimson eyes glancing towards the new person--

--what in the world was he doing?

Strange. Yami thought. Though I suppose I've seen stranger things.

Stranger things like those small hints of his hosts' consciousness--images and sounds that he knew were not from his own mind, though this was only while Yuugi was asleep. Hints of dreams, perhaps.

...Much like that flash of the Dark Magician Girl, and a card being slapped against a table. Yeah, that would be one of those moments.

"...Yes?" He asked. "Is there something you need?"

"I'm almost curious to ask what kind of strange things you've seen." He returns back in a flat tone of voice, breathing in slowly. Ruka frowns slightly though, something seemingly catching his attention before turning back to the other in the window and giving a slow moment to thank over the question.

"I was simply surprised, I didn't expect to see anyone else out here at this hour."

Strange things--

A strange tic formed in Yami's brain. He had thought that to himself, hadn't he? Maybe he had spoken it out loud without realizing it--still, his stomach clenched a small bit, hands tensing slightly as he looked the young man over.

"It's hard to sleep in my dorm." It was a decent excuse--and not an entirely untrue one. "The other students are rather noisy."

For whatever reason, Hikaru just hadn't been able to sleep tonight. Thinking that perhaps a snack from the kitchen may help she'd slipped out of the Gryffindor dorms and wandered through the darkened halls.

"Now, let's see... the kitchen is.. that way?" She muttered to herself holding her index finger to the side of her lips. During the daytime everything looked so different. She kept hurrying along until something caught her eye. Could it be? Another student?

Not wanting to be rude or slip up on anyone she called out to the figure in a whisper ," Psst, I'm sorry to bother you..." And trailed off, unsure how to finish that sentence.

If he hadn't heard her footsteps coming, Yami might have been a little surprised at her sudden whisper. Still, he hadn't expected as much interaction as he had tonight--even talking to one person was uncertain for him..conversations were strange things, usually best left to his host and his natural awkward gregariousness...

Still, it seemed like he wasn't about to get this chance.

He turned around, blinking at the girl.

"Yes?" He asked, deep voice not fitting his smallish frame.

Hikaru involuntarily stepped backward, surprised by such a deep voice coming from such a petite vessel, but she quickly recovered her composure. "What are you doing out here? It's a little late to be wandering the halls". Her tone was casual and not at all accusatory. She was genuinely curious, forgetting that she herself was also wandering the halls after the usual hours.

She waited patiently for his response, wondering if maybe she should have introduced herself first. If Fuu were here she might have suggested that, but Hikaru didn't always do things in the proper order.
