Contrary to popular belief, Sora could be pretty observant when he needed to be, and right now? He really needed to be.

Alma hadn't mentioned it or anything, but Sora knew all about the anniversary of Balbanes Beoulve's death coming up, and so had maybe been watching his friend a little more closely than usual. Which, in turn, was why he'd decided to spring a surprise on her and maybe help her cheer up a little beforehand, instead of waiting until she was really upset.

He snuck up behind her, surprisingly stealthy, and pulled the book neatly from her hands. "Huh. Looks kinda boring," he announced, before putting his own hand in place of the book and pulling her (gently) from the couch. "Come on, I'm kidnapping you!"

"Wha -- hey!" Sora's stealth tactics had been successful, though it wouldn't have been very difficult to surprise Alma. She had been too engrossed with her book (which she tried to snatch back from him) and her thoughts (which had temporarily been forgotten as he pulled her from her seat) to bother paying much attention. And by now, she was used to assuming that Sora would make his presence known just from being himself... or, rather, being loud.

"Kidnapping?" she asked, looking surprised but still allowing him to drag her away. The word made her think back to the week when she'd thought herself a heretic from a fictional version of Ivalice, where she had been kidnapped two or three times in the span of mere weeks... But Sora was her friend, as opposed to a group of knights out to kill her brother and steal his magical stones, so this would presumably end a lot better. "Where are we going?"

Sora dog-eared the book so she wouldn't lose her place before shutting it, tossing it on a nearby desk for later pick-up. Probably it would still be there when they came back...probably.

"You got it!" he agreed, pleased at how his plan was working. Absently his fingers laced through hers as he bundled her through the portrait hall and continued down the corridor. He threw a look over his shoulder, one that he probably thought was quite sneaky and mysterious but was actually just ridiculous. "I wouldn't be much of a kidnapper if I told you that, right?"

Sora Griffith; logic at its finest.

With a sigh and a mournful glance at her book, Alma obediently followed her friend out of the common room and down the halls. There was clearly no need for him to hold on to her so, but she only rolled her eyes at his inherent... Sora-ness.

"Not necessarily! I am coming along quietly and without a struggle, you'll notice," she pointed out with a grin. "Don't I deserve some sort of compensation for my good behavior?"
