Ren looked up as Nana showed up. “It’s about time,” he grinned, “We were gonna start with out you and Hachiko would have lost without your help.”

“Careful Nobu, it’s an old saying that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,” Ren said, not even looking up and taking a new tile and tossing it back towards the discards.

The guitarist paused, sending Nana a sheepish smile, trying not to fidget at the sound of her grip on the can. "I mean, I guess you're a girl to other people. Just not to me. But you have to admit that I'm right, at least. You're not into that kind of stuff, right?" He had a pretty good feeling that he was going to get hit at some point tonight. Numbing up sounded like a good idea as he took a long swig.
"Pung."

"I think Nana would make a great guy." She chimed in, smiling at her best friend and roommate encouragingly. "Nana's really pretty as a girl, but she'd be so cool as a guy!" There was a tiny hit of fangirlish adoration in her voice, something that they were probably all used to by this point in time.
She was so caught up in what was going on, that she forgot about playing all together. Really, she was practically useless as a mahjong partner.

Nana directed her next statement to her roommate. "Uh... I don't think that's what he meant, Hachi." Ren seemed happy with his current girlfriend, as far as Nana knew. And five months did seem like a great feat, considering he had a reputation for being a player.
"Can we stop talking about me being a guy? It's kind of creepy."

Picking up a tile and placing another one into the discard, he shrugged his shoulders slightly, “I dunno. I think if you were a guy, you’d have all the girls falling at your feet.” It was about time they got to a subject that poked fun at someone else and wasn’t about his love life.

"And yet five months." Didn't seem like they were doing too bad at the dating thing, but maybe two bad daters made one good dater. Wait, did that even make sense? He paused for a second, trying to think it over, almost missing the whole conversation about Nana being a guy.
He frowned. "I think if Nana were really a guy, she wouldn't sound as good when she sang. I wasn't saying that you were a guy, though, Nana." It really didn't make as much sense when he said it out loud.

"Whew! I'm glad." The shipper in her was relieved as she'd grown quite enamored with their romance, probably to their dismay. "I'm sure things will work out. We're still young after all right? So maybe she'll figure it out by the time you're older." It could work though, didn't they learn that awkward to negatives makes a positive thing in class that one time? She'd been too busy staring at a cute guy to pay full attention
"Wouldn't sound as good?" The idea was horrifying, because first and foremost she was a fan of Nana's voice. "You have to stay a girl forever!" Hachi mourned, forgoing mahjong to throw her arms around her unfortunate roommate. To think she hadn't even started on a second beer yet!

Her rant was interrupted by Hachi's bear-hug. "What-- I'm not having a sex change, Hachi!"
Obviously, the shochu Ren had asked for was long forgotten, as was the mahjong game at the moment.

He just stared as the conversation continued and the other three players started completely ignore the game in favour of…well, it was a lot of falling over. Well, at least they weren’t talking about his relationship anymore. He also forgot about his shochu. While the three of them flailed around for a bit, he just went for his cigarette pack, lighting it taking a drag, letting the smoke drift into the room.

He groaned, staring forlornly at his fallen beverage. "Can someone throw me a new can?"
Nana was so cruel to Nobu.

Then Nobu's question sunk in and she popped up off of Nana. "I'll get it. I was almost out anyway." That said she headed for the cans before anyone could deter her. Grabbing two cans she headed over to Nobu, before holding one out with a smile. "Here you go, for you!"

Turning her attention to Hachiko, Nana began to ask, "Why would you think...?" Her voice trailed off as she saw how happily relived Hachi was. She gave a slight smile to her. "Changing's too much work," she commented instead as she watched her roommate prance over to the beers. Then, to the others she said, "Besides, it would have to be true the other way around... and I definitely don't have guys falling over me."
Now that her beer was gone, she had to get a new one. Remembering that Ren wanted his shochu, she grabbed the bottle on her way back to the table and dangled it in front of his face.

Listening to her mention about guys not falling at her feet, Ren grinned a bit. Nana liked guys, as hard as that may seem sometimes but, she was a bit distant to try and get one sometimes. When Ren met her, it was through Nobu and he was pretty sure that meeting was the blonde moron trying to set them up on a date.
It didn’t work.
“You know, if you really want a guy, pretty sure one of us could set you up with someone,” Ren suggested, “Hachiko can suggest someone and me or Nobu can set it up.”

When Nobu had introduced Ren to Nana, it really had been a set up. He believed that Nana should be with a good guy, someone who could take care of her so that he wouldn't have to worry about her all the time. And Ren was the best guy that he knew. However... It didn't work out very well, and it had earned the poor boy one of those infamous love taps. At Ren's suggestion, he brightened considerably. "Yeah! I'll find you a guy, Nana!"

At Nobu's thanks, she practically glowed, beaming up at him happily. "It's no trouble I needed a new beer myself. I'm just glad I could help, really!" Clueless as she was, she didn't notice the blush, already moving on to other things as her attention swing back to Nana. "Oh! You should have said something Nana. I would have gotten you a beer too!" The prospect of finding Nana a boyfriend was a tempting one, she really liked this idea. "Yeah! Just leave it to us Nana!"
