Luckily the rains had eased into barely a drizzle by the evening, and the cool night breeze was light and refreshing as Haku made his way through the soggy grass to the Quidditch pitch. It had been awhile since he'd been flying, and the Gryffindor was contagiously enthusiastic which left Haku with little reason to refuse. It wasn't Zabuza's preferred method of travel and so it was an impractical hobby to pursue. There was no room in their business to waste on frivolities, though Haku managed to get away with what little he could, and he suspected that given the circumstances he could get away with far more than usual ( ... )

"Healing is my favourite class," Haku smiled with a bit more confidence, though he knew it wasn't anything he could ever fully pursue. Not as a career, at least, but it was a useful skill to have even though Zabuza never particularly encouraged it. "The needles can relieve stress at certain pressure points. It requires a thorough knowledge of anatomy. And a skilled hand." He'd offer to demonstrate, but he couldn't imagine Utena trusting him enough.

"What about you, other than Quidditch? Do you have a class you enjoy?"

"I'm pretty bad at Healing," Utena admitted sheepishly. "I always mess up with the charms and stuff. One class we were learning how to mend cuts, and I turned my partner bright pink." She laughed at the memory. Explaining that to the Professor had taken a while. She listened as Haku described acupuncture. It sounded far outside her depth of expertise, but it seemed to fit Haku just fine. "Gee, that sounds really complicated. I could never do anything like that -- my hands would shake. I bet you'd be a good Healer, knowing stuff like that."

Her flying looped them around the Quidditch pitch again and through one of the hoops. "I like PE." A grin. "But I'm pretty good at DADA...oh, and Weapons Mastery. I don't like to fight too much, but I used to uh..." she bit her lip, "Fence, at my old school."

Quietly chuckling along with Utena's retelling of her healing debacle, Haku reassured her that he made similar mistakes when he was a beginner despite it not being true at all. If he ever turned Zabuza bright pink, he likely wouldn't be around to tell of it. That thought alone caused another giggle.

"If you ever need help in the class, I'm sure I can be of assistance," he offered sincerely, willing to put aside time if Utena wanted. It'd only be right after everything she'd done for him, and it was easier than just outright asking Utena if she wanted to spend more time with him.

"Fence?" he asked curiously, "with an actual sword? I've... well my partn-" Biting his lower lip, Haku quickly cut himself off to reevaluate exactly what he should reveal. "I know a few weapons too," he finished cheerfully though without further explanation. "What was your old school like?"

Utena sighed, relieved, when Haku reassured her, not for a second thinking that he might have been merely trying to make her feel better. Maybe she still had a chance at healing classes, if her blunders were something that happened with other people too. "You'd help me out, really...? That'd be great! Thanks, Haku." With tutoring, she'd get the hang of things...eventually. She was sure of it.

"Yeah, with a real sword." She stopped speaking for a moment: it seemed as if Haku had wanted to say something else, but stopped himself. She was about to ask him to elaborate, but his question about Ohtori derailed her thoughts.

"Uh, it was..." A prison, was the first thought, but instead she amended, "A strange place. Kind of like this school but...stricter, I guess you could say. I learned a lot." That much was true -- it just hadn't been the sort of knowledge gained in classrooms. She didn't like to linger on discussion of Ohtori for too long, however, and decided to change the subject. "Say, Haku, how do you like Hogwarts so far? Are you ( ... )
