It was later, now, although Sakura couldn't say for sure how much time had passed since speaking to Jim. It was all sort of blurring together, because when she concentrated on something that wasn't dealing with the terror that kept creeping back up at inopportune moments, it threatened to overwhelm again.
She tried to stay awake for as long as she could, but she wasn't inhuman. Eventually she exhaustion overtook her, eyes sliding just, body slumping bonelessly on the camp bed.
That lasted about ten minutes.
She bolted upright with a gasp, eyes flying wide open. She hadn't seen Sasuke yet. She hadn't seen Sasuke yet.

Sasuke had been sitting, pensively, for about five minutes now; he hadn't even warmed the chair beneath him. When Sakura woke up, he let out a breath he hadn't been aware of holding.
The panic crawled up her throat, icy fingers gripping her mind until she couldn't think straight. She started to tremble, because she couldn't see him, he wasn't anywhere and she was on the verge of curling into a little ball and sobbing because there was just.
Nothing that she could do.
Sakura.
Every muscle in her body froze on instinct, her entire being centred on that one word before she whirled around so fast she felt her neck crick. Her eyes widened, mouth opening slightly as it worked around the word, the name that she couldn't quite choke out past the fear that he had been gone forever.
A beat passed and then she gave up on that and just threw herself at him, burying his face in the crook of his neck and clinging as her breath came in deep, shuddering gasps.

Sasuke knew what it was like to watch everyone you cared about die in front of you. Even knowing it wasn't real. It could be real. It might be real.
He held her while she gasped it out, shuddering in his arms. "I'm okay," he said, trying to soothe her a little. He hadn't experienced what she had; for some reason, the boggarts hadn't affected him. "You're okay."

"Sakura," he said from behind her.
