The girl had entertained her no end the previous day. A grin spread over the blonde's face as she weaved through the crowd of students towards the other girl.
"Why the long face, Mai? Not enough sparkle in your day?" Ino wriggled her finger to emphasize the sparkles. This was going to be fun.

"I got enough this morning trying to tell the difference between a charm and the professor's writing," the Slytherin scoffed as she paused in the middle of the hallway, oblivious to anyone who might need to go around her. Mai didn't care if she was blocking up the flow of students or not. They could go around her.

"It is a little painful," she agreed. "Painful and... tacky."

"SPARKLES? SPARKLES?! Like I haven't had a weird enough time here. First, I comes in with this aspiration to change...psh, like I know how, then I go back to being badass Seifer...but hey, it ain't bad being yourself...then I have that weird moment in that Muggles class. What the hell is going on with me?"
As he looked up to find Mai, he noticed the other strange blond-haired girl hanging around. "Oh man...is this girl just pretending not to be popular, or is she just as cool as I imagine and naturally draws people to her boredom?" In any case, he was still just as interested as ever to see Mai again. He could use the pseudo-sympathy.
"Sparkles, Mai. Sparkles. *shrugs* I guess this place has every intention of going to absolute rubbish."

Her eyes darted sideways to where Seifer was walking up to the girls. Her expression was unreadable for the moment, so it was difficult to tell exactly how she felt about this new addition. In all honesty, she wasn't entirely sure. She was still testing the waters with him after all.
"They're painful, tacky, and they hurt my eyes," she replied to both people who had approached her. "I thought that Hufflepuff's entry was bad. This is worse. Much worse."

She nodded a greeting to the Seventh year. They'd never spoken much, so she wasn't quite sure how this would go. "Seifer."

Now it was lunch, and she was heading to class when she overheard people talking about them again. Wanting to know what the big deal was, she walked over to the group. "What's the big deal with these sparkle things?"

Mai had been carefully ignoring everyone else around her until another girl walked up and demanded to know what was going on with the sparkles. The Slytherin girl merely shrugged, waiting for Seifer to finish what he was saying. Her brow furrowed slightly when the boy tried to pull Toph aside and she shrugged a little. Not like it mattered to her anyway. She didn't even know Toph.
"Find a pair that won't break under a simple charm and then you'll have me convinced," she replied to Ino's mentioning of the sunglasses.

"I have the perfect thing." Ino reached into her bag, rummaging for a moment before she pulled out a pair of sunglasses. She'd bought them as a joke when her family visited an airport in Egypt to observe muggle travel rituals.
The frames were white, the eye pieces in the shape of love hearts. The Ravenclaw almost struggled to keep a smirk off her face as she handed them to Mai. "Use them wisely."
