Karin walked out of the sixth year girls dormitory to see Sasuke Uchiha lounging in a chair. She grinned. Perfect. She turned, ran back into her dorm and came back out with her charms homework also. Putting on a calm face, she walked to go seat herself next to him. "Hey Sasuke~" She gave him a small smile.

Sasuke glanced over. "Karin," he acknowledged her, turning back to his Charms homework. Now, if two birds were flying in the air, at equal speeds and on parallel planes of flight, which would be more advisable to aim for with a Plucking Curse and how would...

He rubbed his eyes. Homework sucked.

Karin smiled. He acknowledged her--! She closed her eyes and took a deep breathe, then opened them and pulled her homework out. She glanced at the problem he was working on. "Oh..That one...It would probably be more advisable to shoot the one farthest." She fiddled with her glasses. Oh, he was so gorgeous~

Sasuke glanced at Karin. Then back at the homework. Then back at Karin. Then at the homework again.

"So it is," he muttered, writing down the relevant answer and adding some notes.

He hadn't spoken much to Karin since Tsunade's letter. At first, it had been because he wasn't sure what he was going to do in general, a sort of stunned withdrawal from the world while he reconfigured his perception of where he stood in relation to everything else. Then it had been because he wasn't sure how to explain to her that the plan had changed - that the plan didn't exist anymore. That his place in the world had shifted and he'd, for once, decided to shift with it.

How do you put that into words? How do you tell someone the trip is over because the destination vanished?

He turned another page in his book. "Did you get the notes on the differences between transmutive curses and transfiguration spells?" he asked.
