The Great Hall. Catty, Ciel, and Open no_souls_here January 14 2010, 19:09:35 UTC
Tentatively, Ciel pushed open the rather large door. Clinging to the side of the doorframe he peered inside. The room was open, and spacious, long tables stretched the length of it. There didn't appear to be anyone inside.

His eyes opened wide. The room looked big enough to hold at least a pair of dragons. Luckily, there weren't any here now.

Quietly, he slipped inside to investigate further.

The boy was glad that he had both parents, he loved them both and didn't know what he'd do without them. The deaging event had left Ciel blissfully unaware of reality. He allowed Catty to proceed without further interuption on that particuliar subject.

Ciel tried to imagine this scenario playing out in his mind. He couldn't recall any story that involved an alien princess. It was definately a new one! Time would tell whether or not it was a good one.

Rofl. Catty has no idea what she's doing. XD scroll_heir January 27 2010, 04:01:08 UTC
Catty patted him gently on the head, out of a strange need to interact with him beyond the story. The urge was odd.

"So, she pulled over and started to ask the girl questions. 'Where did you come from? Are you okay? What's your name?' But the alien princess didn't quite understand what the woman meant. Her name? She didn't know it, didn't remember anything, and tilted her head at the woman instead. The lonely woman found it horribly adorable. This girl who didn't say a word was too cute, but she knew that she had to take her to the proper authorities. But she just couldn't call her 'girl', and so the woman said, 'Aren't you just like a kitten!' and the princess laughed."

Catty was beginning to realize that her narration skills were a little atrocious.

Aw, but she's trying so XD no_souls_here January 27 2010, 07:05:01 UTC
The headpats were gratefully received, as Ciel closed his eyes and bowed his head slightly. That was about the time that the story began growing a bit longer than the boy had patience for.

He shifted a little bit to get more comfortable, the fidgets an indication that he was trying to behave and sit still.

"So what happened to the princess once the lady found her? Did they go to the police? Did the princess get to go home to her planet?".

XDD She's bad at this, it's hilarious. scroll_heir January 28 2010, 00:34:27 UTC
And Catty was completely oblivious as to the meanings of all the movement, even though she had been an impatient child herself. It was one of those selective memory moments.

"Oh! Well, see. the alien princess took the woman's hand and they teleported through time back to the exact moment where the princess met the kind lady, and that was when the lady realized that this was no ordinary child. She couldn't just take her to the police! The police would send her to the scary place called Area 51 where they would do scary experiments on her!"

"But I thought you were supposed to trust the police?". The boy continued his line of questioning as it gave him something to do in the meantime.

"Area 51? What's that? Why would they do experiments on her? Wasn't her royal guard looking for her? Why didn't they help?".

Oh, he could think of a lot more questions to ask. Many of them beginning with "why". It's not that the characters weren't intriguing but he wished something would happen.

"See, these were bad and scary police. They wanted to take her away from the nice lady and not let her return home because they were afraid that she would mess up their boss's plan to destroy hope."

Catty pursed her lips, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "You see, Ciel, this princess was supposed to save the world! And you know what happens when people don't want that, right? You know what a bad guy is, don't you?"

She didn't answer the question about the royal guard.

There never was one.

Ciel briefly wondered how you could destroy hope. Hope was something intangible that couldn't be held in your hand but he'd already asked a lot of questions...

"Of course I know what a bad guy is!" He swiftly answered proudly. "That's someone who wishes or brings others harm".

Now things were beginning to get interesting again. Patiently, he waited for you to continue and reveal more about these bad guys.

It was a story.

And something that the bad guy wanted.

Catty didn't know how it worked. Just that it did.

"Yeah! And this beast wanted to bring a lot of harm to the girl. But the woman wasn't going to allow that. Time passed, and the princess grew older, the woman becoming her mother as the princess had forgotten who she was. Her mother knew, though, that her new daughter was something special and that she couldn't protect her from the evil monster forever.

"She'd have to face her destiny. But neither mother nor daughter knew how soon that would be, not until one of the evil minions of the beast came to take the princess away!"

She was getting into the story now, hovering over Ciel, arms over her head in a menacing gesture to mime the minion she spoke of.

So that's how you could have a mother without a father. All was becoming clearer!

It was true, the story telling was improving! It was as if he could see the monster for himself the way she acted it out and everything.

He drew back slightly, placing his arms in front of himself as a shield.

"So what happened next?!"

What did happen next?

Her eyes widened.

"The monster tried to hurt the princess's mom! This woman had raised the princess, had been there for her for everything, and there was no way the princess was going to let that happen. So she challenged the monster to a fight."

Catty hopped off the couch, brandishing her wand in front of her as though it were a weapon, taking on the role of the princess as she faced the imaginary monster, acting out this part of the story rather than telling it.

"They fought hard, and the monster almost won... Until the princess remembered her own magic and banished the beast."

Ciel watched the duel between good and evil with marked interest. He gasped and clapped his hands to his mouth when it looked as if the monster might win. In his eyes, it was something dark, and hairy. Like some kind of shadow creature that should bend and shift it's form to consume all in it's path.

What a relief it was when the princess managed to beat it in the end!

What a strange thing that Ciel thought that about her made up monster, seeing as how it was exactly how she imagined it to be. Dark and unfathomable, full of everyone's worst nightmares. The destroyer of hope.

Catty swallowed loudly, remembering things that didn't even exist. Couldn't exist.

She paused for a moment, trying to banish her own inner demons. "And so the princess and her mother were able to live happily ever after."

She had to end the story there. She didn't know how else to expand on it. Turning to face the boy, Catty grinned and bowed her head.

Disappointed to see the story end, the boy pouted a little. It was a natural stopping point, he had to admit. Once the monster was gone, there was nothing more to comment on.

Putting a grin back on his face, he hopped over to Catty and gave her a hug. "Thank you for the story Catty!".

Catty blinked at the hug. She hesitated for a second before returning the hug.

She was going to miss this Ciel when the week was over. It made her wonder. What exactly had happened to him to make him... So different.

"You're welcome, Ciel!"

Such a warm embrace, Ciel thought only his mom could make him feel this happy and secure. He didn't want it to end.
