Ciel did enjoy sweet things, however he knew better than to accept candy from strangers. He had been looking for the best hiding space, currently engaged in a game of hide-and-go-seek with this guy who looked a bit like his father and his aunt.

At the sound of Vash's voice, Ciel had hidden behind one of the support pillars. Being small had it's advantages. He'd wait until the coast was clear and find a new hiding spot.

Vash rubbed the back of his head. Funny, he could have sworn he heard someone.

"Well, if you don't want candy, I guess I could understand." Vash said loudly, giving it a shot in the dark. "But, one of the professors asked me to get everyone together in one place so we can figure out what's going on. We sure don't want anybody to get lost in this giant, scary school."

So far the scariest thing Ciel had yet witnessed in this school was Vash. That raised voice, and unusual spikey hair was not something he'd ever expected to run into. He remained quiet and watched.

Edward was wandering this expanse of castle and there was a grown up offering candy which was really tempting because he liked candy and he liked how it made him feel but the sight of another little boy caught his attention. He grinned slowly and ducked behind a suit of armor.

Stalking was a perfectly acceptable game, and if this kid was going to hide, well it would be fun to find him. The trick was not to let it be known that he was there which might be tricky with the grown up around.

He crouched and held as still as he could manage, which was not very and observed Ciel from behind.

Though the crumpets had done their damage on Professor Strife too, he was still reasonable enough. Fifteen and pretty sure there was something bizarre going on in the school (even though he had no idea what) was probably easier for the staff to deal with than an excited or scared eight year old, anyway.

"Aren't strangers promising candy something kids are taught to avoid?"

Cloud had only been passing by, but he couldn't help but ask.

"...You think so?" Vash tilted his head a bit as he turned to look at Cloud.

Oh god. Professor Strife had shrunk. And he was adorable. It was all Vash could manage to do and not smile or laugh. It was just.... Professor Strife always looked so dour and serious most of the time. How did a face like that ever learn to scowl?

"What do you think I should do to get them to trust me?"

Cloud didn't answer right away, but the look on his face was enough to suggest he was honestly didn't have an answer at first. Yeah, what did kids like anyway? It wasn't like he babysat before, and he wasn't even that in tune with his own peers to know what created trust.

"Don't they like to play? Maybe that works." The blond shrugged. "It's just... the candy thing is the first thing their parents tell them, right?"

"I guess..." Vash tried to remember the first thing he was taught by Rem, but all he could remember was his foster parents telling him not to play on the tractor.

Then Vash grinned at Cloud. "Hey, you wouldn't mind helping me out, would you? You're a bit younger than I am, so they might be up to feeling a little more friendly with you. Besides! If it's two of us together, I wont look like a stranger!"

It's okay. He's not around anymore. He's not here to hurt you. He won't get you. You don't need to cry. Not all wizards and witches are like him. It's okay, He not around anymore...

The Little Chinese girl huddled herself at the bottom of some stairs, her face buried between her thighs as she choked out stifled sobs. Her lips muttered the running thoughts that cross her mind, trying so desperately to drill it down far enough to not be scared.

How could she not though? She was millions of miles away from her new room, stuck in a castle filled with wizards and witches she didn't know. She didn't even know where she was anymore within the castle anymore. Maybe she shouldn't have snuck her way through the common room portal when she had the chance.

Why can't I be home? Chao thought to herself, if not anyone else who could hear her thoughts. What did I do wrong to deserve this?

"...I want to be in my room." Chao muttered under a sniffle.

The sound of small sobs caught Vash's ear and he looked down the stairs at the little girl huddled below. He started down towards her, making slow and quiet steps so she wouldn't be startled. Poor girl was upset, probably homesick and frightened.

"Hey, Sweetie, what's the matter?" He asked, keeping his voice soft.

Chao Jumped at the voice, letting out a surprised gasp while her head snapped around to face the stranger. Pulling herself down another step, her eyes were wide in terror like a wounded animal at this rather intimidatingly tall man. He had bright hair too, just like...her muscles wound themselves up, readying herself to make a run for it even if she knew it was would be futile. The man looked a lot like her mother's side of the family, but they weren't going to get her here. she wasn't going to allow it again.

"Sorry! Did I startle you?" Vash held up his hands as he settled onto the steps, pulling his height down closer to Chao's level. "I just couldn't stand to hear a nice young girl crying, and I couldn't help myself but see if there's anyway I could help."

"My name's Vash, what's yours?"
