Hercules spotted his fellow classmate from a fair distance away, yet even as far as he was it was apparent to him the boy was unknowingly facing certain doom.
"H-Hey!" he called out as he headed over, realizing as he got closer that perhaps his worries were for naught. The parchment didn't look like it was going anywhere, fixed under the sleeping student like it was. Hercules bit his lip, hoping he hadn't woken him up already. He wasn't really keen on the idea of getting snapped at.
Merlin stiffened when he heard a voice in the distance. He fell asleep outside again! He rubbed his face roughly and slowly sat up. The parchment floated a couple feet away and he leaned over to grab it. The assignment wasn't even completed, he thought with a pout.
He turned over and saw a young boy, but couldn't make out his expression. It was getting dark but Merlin still could tell who it was. He was tagged as the 'Klutz' by the rest of his classmates but Merlin still didn't know his name. Yet he wasn't going to judge him, because he was clumsy as well. Instead he gave him a friendly wave.
Hercules waved in return, relieved that he hadn't upset the napping student. With a bright smile he decided to head over him; he couldn't say he knew the boy personally but at the very least he could assume he was the friendly sort.
"Hi," the 6th year 'klutz' greeted, "sorry for waking you up. It didn't look like that assignment was going to stick around for much longer." not to mention it was getting darker by the minute. He knew he wouldn't appreciate waking up to a pitch black sky, no matter how appealing the stars were.
Merlin looked down at his homework and placed a book on top of it with a sad look. "It doesn't matter. I'm probably going to do terribly on it anyway." With a dismissive shrug he looked back up at the other boy. It was getting dark out and he couldn't see anyone else around. What time was it anyways?
Extending his hand out to the other to be shook, Merlin introduced himself with a small smile. "The name's Merlin."
Merlin's slumber was interrupted by the loud panting of- what was that?! He shot up and scooted away from it, his eyes darting between it and the owner. As soon as he saw the creature's features, Merlin eased up a bit and smiled at it. "What is it?"
The owner was a younger student that he would see a lot in the hallways. He knew her as that-girl-who-always-wore-that-hat. And vaguely wondered if he was the-boy-with-the-neckerchief.
coco is a cat XD and also Ruby is a boy. A FABULOUS ONE. :3seeks_beautyDecember 21 2009, 15:43:01 UTC
Coco peered at him curiously, her nose almost touching the older boy's face; then, deciding he had sufficiently interested her enough for one day, flicked him gently with her large pink tail, and scampered back to Ruby's shoulder.
Ruby had met a lot of people here who were more unfamiliar with Pokemon than he'd expected. Granted, not everyone had a d--had parents who worked with them in the Ministry, and admittedly the negative stereotype of a Pokemon owner as a crazy battle-maniac who participated in illegal battling on the sly still persisted, but Ruby still found it slightly jarring when he had to explain about Coco.
"This is Coco," he said, as Coco purred in response. "She's my Skitty. Is that homework, or a nest?"
ah i fail so hard. very fabulous though =DselflessunicornDecember 22 2009, 19:02:30 UTC
Merlin was momentarily confused before looking down at his homework and frowning. It was crumpled and probably wouldn't be in any condition to turn in. "It was my homework." He would probably have to rewrite on another parchment later but his attention turned back to the dog and its owner.
He looked back at the Skitty and smiled gently, a hand hesitantly moving towards her and suddenly pulled away. "Does she bite?"

Before Ruby realized, Coco had bounded over to him and begun sniffing at his face.
"Coco!" Ruby hissed. He didn't want to disturb the older student, and it was getting close to curfew. Too close for comfort. "Coco, get back here!"
