Her eyes swept the corridors ahead of her for anything out of the ordinary, her ears straining to hear sounds of either students or Belladonna. Nanao had no desire to confront the newly-corporeal witch. She knew the extent of her dueling skills and had no delusions of grandeur or heroics.
Hopefully everyone else could get enough sense to help them last the night.
She gritted her teeth, wishing again that all this could have occured when there was that she had to deal with. All ghosts once again taking on flesh did mean that Belladonna was a thread once more; but it also meant-

Shunsui sensed her hesitation as she examined his leg. It must have been worse than he thought. Certainly it felt bad, but if it looked bad enough to cause the unflappable Herbology professor to... was she crying? The ghost felt his heart do something funny in his chest; a simultaneous swelling and shrinking as it caught alight and froze at once.
"Nanao-chan..." he said, voice calm and gentle. "It's all right, Nanao-chan." He gave her an encouraging smile. "I trust you."

She held his gaze for a few seconds, then turned her focus back to his leg. "One," she counted and with a sharp jerk pulled the two parts of his bone back into alignment. She held it firmly in place, putting her weight on it in case Shunsui jumped at the sudden pain. She'd been told once that healing was easier and worked better when the patient wasn't tense, so that was what she'd tried to do.

She counted to one, and Shunsui relaxed. He was entirely aware of the trick she was about to play, but he did not wish to make the process any more painful than it had to be.
And it was painful. Shunsui's eyes slammed shut and he gritted his teeth, biting back a groan of agony as the terrible sensation of bones being moved, slid against each other and pulled back into place washed over him. It had been quite some time since he'd been able to feel anything at all, and it was upsetting to him, to say the least, that when he became corporeal it wasn't all women and sake, but was instead mayhem and broken bones. But there was Nanao in that mayhem, and it was Nanao caring for his broken bones, so he supposed it wasn't entirely a ( ... )
