Speaking of a nosy Ravenclaw, one was coming down the hall at that very moment. She had a messenger bag full of books at her side and, of course, her camera (along with several notebooks for writing). Asakura also had a quill tucked into the ponytail for quick access.
She was walking quickly but slowed when she saw that in the hallway ahead there was a familiar figure.
Bingo.
"Hey there," she dropped down in the seat next to him and leaned against his shoulder to look at what he was reading, caring very little for any sort of personal bubble. "Transfiguration, huh? Need help?"
Harry sighed as Asakura leaned over his shoulder, her face uncomfortably close to his. She loved doing that, and the fact that he no longer blushed and flinched away probably said a lot about how much he had gotten used to her.
While most people were content to float around the periphery of Harry, giving him his space and letting him open up at his own pace, Asakura had barged right into his life, camera flashing and quill scribing, and had refused to leave ever since. He supposed that was probably why she was his only real friend at the moment.
"Some would argue I need help with a lot of things, but yeah, at the moment the big one is Transfiguration. Don't suppose you'd be willing to give your poor peer some pointers?"
Asakura could still remember the first day he HADN'T flinched. It seemed odd that she could, but she had always been good with facts and dates, it was just something she paid attention to. She had never pointed it out to Harry of course, that wasn't the point. It was just another observation she had made about him.
"Course. Let's see," she pulled the scroll a little closer and started to scan over it, "The main thing is clearly picturing what you want it to change into. It can be a bit tricky since you're looking at a cute little ball of fuzz, but it's doable."
Harry sighed and said, "Yeah, cute and fuzzy isn't exactly my specialty. Maybe if we were turning the yarn into a grenade it'd be more up my alley."
Leaning back, his head brushing her shoulder, Harry sighted, then gave his friend a smile. "Okay, let's give it a try, see if I deserve not to be held back, and you deserve that Ravenclaw rep for brilliance."
Sliding off the sill, he turned and put a ball of yarn on the window sill before drawing his wand and brandishing it at the ball. Visualizing the image of a guinea pig in his head, focusing all of his attention on that picture, Harry flicked the wand and said, "Right then, Transitionas Cavia!"
The yarn jumped and twisted, the string shifting around on its own, twisting and bleeding together until a rodent shape began to emerge from it. Within seconds, a guinea pig was resting on the window sill. Albee it, a guinea pig with a yarn tail, and bright red fur and purple fur.
Sometimes, as now, Naruto just let his feet carry him wherever they wanted to go. He'd explored the castle enough (had run from teachers and fellow students enough) to only engage his mind and instincts so much, to counter and predict the vagaries of the school itself.
His mind was still buzzing with thoughts of the day though, and Naruto focused, then grinned. Sometimes the best way to forget any problems was to use his body, so he kicked into high gear. He took the staircase in front of him at high speed, hearing telltale creaks and leaping it. Bursting into the hallway in front of him, Naruto ran at full speed and completely failed to see a sudden turn of a corner. He crashed into the wall.
Stumbling backwards, Naruto blinked furiously, seeing bursts and pulses of colorful light. Huh. There was another boy here.
Never be it said that Uzumaki Naruto didn't say hello to people he didn't know, regardless of his mental state.
Harry looked up as he heard a massive bang, and saw a blond teenager come stumbling backwards, nearly falling over. He just kind of stared at the kid with a befuddled expression, and debated going back to his reading and pretending he didn't see anything.
Still, he supposed he should see if the other boy was okay, and besides he'd said hi, so Harry couldn't hope he'd just leave.
The colors and lights were rapidly receding, since Naruto had an indecently hard head -- or that was what his mentor had told him, anyway -- and he quickly checked the wall to see if he had left any dents. Caressing the wall carefully, he looked at the other boy and grinned at him, combining elements of sheepishness, embarassment, and sheer...welcome. If that was even something of an emotion.
"I'm Uzumaki Naruto," he said, still smiling, while the hand not wandering along the wall scratched the back of his neck. "I didn't hurt you or anything by hitting the wall, right?"
It had been in his experience -- just once, okay, just once -- that hitting things with his head could hurt other people indirectly. Mainly, he'd been sent flying once in a fight, his head had collided with a table, and about four people had their laps scalded when the shockwaves made their bowls of soup spill.
Also, he wasn't thinking particularly straight at the moment, and couldn't quite figure out what to say.
Given how widely Naruto was grinning, Harry figured he either had a very thick head, or had hit the wall pretty hard.
Blinking at the strange student, who he know realized he'd seen around the Griffindor common room, Harry managed to process what had happened and said, "Uh, no, I'm good. I'm pretty sure the wall's okay to." Naruto's head on the other hand, had him slightly worried.
"I'm Harry, nice to meet you I guess. Run into walls here often?"

"Hell's bells," he sighed.

"Hey," he replied, setting down his reading.
