With Iroh's death came a great depression for Toph. She had only left the dorm room to go to the bathroom today, as she didn't want to be around anyone. She didn't even go to get food.

Now her stomach was rumbling too much for her to ignore, and she decided to go down to the kitchens to grab something to shut her stomach up. She was surprised to feel that someone was walking around with....crutches? Squeaky crutches at that. It wasn't long before she heard them.

It took her a while, but she did remember that Seifer had been kept in the hospital wing for a while. Maybe it was him. It certainly wasn't a professor. Turning the corner, she faced the cripple. "Is that Seifer?"

Normally, Toph would have punched Seifer in the arm and laughed at the little nickname he gave her. This time though, she was lost back in her depression.

Seifer's prodding woke her up from her thoughts. "Nothing's wrong. I'm just waiting for my cinnamon bun!" Like she would admit that anything was bugging her to him. He didn't know how close she had gotten to the late professor, and frankly, she didn't see it as any of his business.

Seifer gave a stern look to Toph, hoping it would reach her beyond her sight. He compensated for this by breathing out in a long dragged sigh. "You can't fool me like that. I'm not some dunce of a professor or some dumbass student."

The Slytherin prefect huffed again when Toph refused to acknowledge her real problem. "First, your family gives you trouble. Who is it this time? I'm not afraid to kick some ass for you if it meant that you'd 'get your cinnamon bun' faster."

Toph frowned. "No one's bothering me." That was...sort of true. No one was making fun of her or anything. She shifted in her stool uneasily. Was it really worth it to tell Seifer about Iroh? He had helped her out when her parents were getting on her nerves...

"I just miss him. A lot."

Seifer sucked on his teeth a little to note his displeasure with this guy dying. It had sent many of his true friends around the campus into a depressed craze. It made it seem more and more likely that he would have to clean up the messy tears himself.

"What do you miss about him?"

Toph refused to let tears fall in front of the Slytherin, but she was finding it harder to keep them at bay.

"Everything! He made me tea, and we talked about stuff, and he taught me a lot of stuff, and he was like...he was like a dad. I didn't even get to take his class like I wanted to."

The moogles had finally brought the cinnamon bun and milk that Toph had requested, and she took a bite out of it. She didn't really enjoy anything about it though, as she was too upset to care what she was eating.

Seifer suddenly became aware of just how important this old dead guy was to everyone, if he affected them the same way he affected the tougher Toph. "Well, I'm sure he wouldn't want you worrying about him when he's not in pain. I mean, he shouldn't be anymore."

This consolation stuff was not working for Seifer, but luckily, Toph chewed on a cinnamon bun so he could get some more time to think over something mroe reasonable to say.

Toph washed down the bun with some of her milk. "I guess so. It's just...It's not fair. I was just talking to him the other day, and now he's gone." She really had been looking forward to it. She didn't think she could take the class now, as the replacement just wouldn't be enough for her. She wanted Iroh to teach her.

She tore off another piece of bun and chewed it thoughtfully. Seifer was right though. Professor Iroh wouldn't like it if she was so upset about him. She'd still miss him a lot though.
