Ashe had noticed that Rangiku hadn't been at dinner at all and that was unnerving. After her talk with Godot, she had finally come to the conclusion that she needed to talk to Ran about... everything. She'd really messed up a lot of things and it was a wonder Ran was still speaking to her.

So, she'd gone to talk to the moogles and ask a favor of them. In no time at all, Ashe held a tray of Rangiku's favorite foods as she walked up the stairs to her best friend's office. Maybe this would make for a good peace offering.

Taking a deep breath, Ashe knocked on the door, pulling it open. "I noticed you weren't at dinner." She paused as she entered, gently kicking the door shut. "I had hoped this would be enough of a peace offering for you. There are some things we need to discuss."

Looking over from her desk, Rangiku looked a little bit like a deer caught in headlights. She knew she'd forgotten something, and apparently that something was meeting up with Ashe. She swallowed the truffle and looked around for something to wipe her hands on, throwing Ashe an apologetic glance in the process. "I fell asleep after the Club, it wasn't anything important."

Giving up, she pushed a few things around on her desk with one hand to clear some space as she sucked the remaining chocolate off her fingers. Rangiku's brow furrowed as Ashe's words sank in. "Peace offering? Far as I remember we're not at war..."

She sighed a little, expression giving away some of her concern, for all the joking comments. "What did you want to talk about?"

The guilty look on Rangiku's face brought forth a slight chuckle from Ashe, who was now gripping the tray quite tighter than necessary as she set it down on the newly cleared desk. She paused for a moment, clasping her hands in front of her at about stomach-height, trying to think of how to go about this. She knew what she needed to say; she just... didn't know how to go about saying it.

"By all rights, we should be," she murmured in response to the war comment. "I'm surprised you don't hate me after all I've done to you."

She looked a bit lost, which was quite right. At the moment, Ashe was as far from her comfort zone as she had ever been in her life. Not even that day back in October when they'd kissed came close to the discomfort she felt now.

"I owe you an apology... Several, actually, and I wanted to ... discuss why I've done some of the things I've done."

Well... it was a start, right?

Rangiku smiled at Ashe's quiet laugh, lips curving as she looked down at the tray of food. It was sweet she'd gone through the effort. Not that Rangiku had really minded living off chocolate for the evening, but this was better.

It took a moment to process what Ashe had said. Apologies, check. Discussion, check. That Ashe thought she needed to apologise for something was a source of concern, but Rangiku was getting the strong impression that she really needed to say whatever it was. Whatever Ashe meant by Rangiku having cause to hate her, though, boggled her mind. "I'd never hate you," came the simple correction, Rangiku looking up from the tray of varied deliciousness and trying to catch Ashe's gaze. A brief pause followed, Rangiku hoping at least that would sink in, before she continued.

"It sounds serious," she said softly, resting a hand over Ashe's and smiling encouragingly. "Want to sit down?" she asked, tilting her head towards the couch in front of the fireplace.
