So you named your kitty Lyra? I named one of my pet rats Lyra! Small pet world. Did you get the name from Philip Pullman's books or from the constellation? Or both?

I actually got it from a list of baby names. I just looked up female L names, and this one was on it. What books did Philip Pullman write? maybe i heard the name from there before and just didn't remember

It's a gorgeous name. I'd love to name one of my future kids Lyra.

He wrote "The Golden Compass", "The Subtle Knife" and "The Amber Spyglass", among many others. That trilogy had Lyra as the main character, though, and I remember looking on a baby name site that that was the origin of the name as a name and not just as a constellation. I remember thinking that it would be a beautiful name when I learned about the constellation in astronomy at East, though.

I enjoy the name as well, I think I like the way it is spelled better than it sounds. That is pretty random, i know but it is just so pretty looking. I do'nt think I have read any of this books, they don't sound familiar, maybe i'll check it out this summer when I have some more free time
