Submit: Mix & Match
Well, it took a bit longer to organize than expected... but we have reached our final challenge here at sqenix_icontest. I wanted to do something special by involving not only myself but some of our active members as well, namely those that won the recent monthly draws. Hopefully as many people as possible can participate so we have a good send-off :)
The theme for Week 180 is Mix & Match. You may submit two different Square Enix icon sets (but only one can be from a FF & KH series, see below*) provided each set contains three icons in total and each icon features a different one of the six themes listed below, following all applicable requirement. You can mix and match different series as well, or choose the same game for all three if you prefer.
*NOTE: If you are submitting two entries, then at least one of your icon sets must only feature imagery from a Non FF & KH series. Check this post for a list of such titles, some gallery links and more information. You can re-use themes previously used in your first set, but you must still have each icon within the set feature a different theme
Your icons will be placed in order of submissionl and judged as a set, not as individual icons. As such while they must exist in their own right and reflect their own chosen theme, they should also be able to stand side by side well, whether they have a similar design style or shared concept. Your icon must be black and white/greyscale with the exception of the use of one colour which has been applied to a certain area/group of areas. Multiple shades of the same colour are applicable as long as they are close enough to still be the same and not different hues all together. See this example for more details.

Your icon must feature a photomanipulation of a Square Enix character in another Square Enix character's outfit. You can either use characters from the same game or entirely different games, but they must be different characters; you cannot use an alternate form of the same character from say a crossover or sequel game.
#3 | Ancient Myths & Lore | Chosen by nakimas
Your icon must somehow reference an ancient myth or lore, be it through the use of text and/or imagery. It can be any legend you want from any culture but please specify which when you are submitting so I can append this information to the voting post, in case it's not as obvious to others.

Your icon must feature at least three consecutive words from the following lyrics, The order counts for the first three words, but afterwards you can take a bit more liberty with the lyrics. It is not necessary to maintain punctuation or letter casing and you may substitue alternate characters for words where appropriate (e.g. and with &). You are not allowed to incorporate any external text into your icon, though you may use tinytext/brushes provided they're purely decorative and not legiable. Try to keep the required text as readable as possible and remember to check your spelling/wording before submitting as it's easy to make an error.

#5 | Empty Space | Chosen by wildmusings
Your icon must feature a large amount of empty space, which is devoid of all imagery, though the use of colour/texture fills are still allowed. It's essentially the opposite of a close-up, where instead of trying to fill the entire canvas, at most the subject of your icon may only take up one third of the total available space. Furthermore, you are not allowed to use any text whatsoever, be it standard font based typography/dingbats or decorative brushes/tinytext.

* I only ended up choosing two themes instead of one, as originally planned, cause after those two remaining winners didn't reply only one member stepped forward and made a suggestion ;P

- The icon(s) must be made by you, this includes not stealing icons or copying tutorials
- Your icon(s) must feature imagery from a Square Enix series (cg/screenshots) or artwork
- They must meet LJ requirements (100x100 and 40 kb or less, gif/jpg/png format)
- They should be recently made to fit the theme and kept anonymous/secret throughout
Do Not's
- Do not use/distribute/advertise your submission publicly/reveal your identity
- Doujinshi/Fanart/Cosplay images are not allowed, you must use official art only
- Refrain from using any sexually explicit imagery or overly coarse language
Other's
- Please credit outside sources (e.g. brushes, textures, bases, lyrics, quotes)
- You may provide translations/definitions (e.g. foreign languages, tiny text, large words)
- If submitting an icon variation to a current & anonymous icontest, check with both mods
- If you change/edit your submission let me know so I can replace/upload the right one
If something is amiss with your submission I will reply/inform you of it and give you a chance to either resubmit the icon or fix the comment depending. It is at my discretion to disqaulify you for failure to follow these guidelines.
You have until Saturday, April 11th at 8:00 AM EST in the morning to submit.
