My Old School Video Game love is showing.spyridonaJune 15 2010, 22:34:20 UTC
I think my least favorite is an oldie. (Oh dear God.) I never liked Tifa/Cloud, ever. Mind you, it's been ten years since I played through the entire game, but my take of Tifa was never great. It wasn't the the fact she didn't notice Cloud all that much as a kid. That's understandable, that's how kids act with unpopular brats who were STALKERS. I never liked her because she never had the courage to speak up when Cloud's story in the first disk was a delusion. If she had spoken up, the wild goose chase they went on would have been more planned and maybe certain characters with more gumption and bravery could have lived. I always found Tifa also a little more 'whimpy' in personality compared to Yuffie and Aerith.
My absolutely favorite ship ever? One that is really, really beyond wrong?
Terra/Kefka off FF6. I haven’t explored this in years, due to fandom being squicked out by the idea, but I’ve always loved Foe Yay, and despite the unfortunate implications, I liked the darkness and possible take. I know it’ll never be canon and I am

What's your stance on writing slash as an expression of supporting real-life queer people? As an expression of supporting feminism with slash's focus on the desires of the female writers and readers?
I might get stoned for this onespyridonaJune 15 2010, 23:40:53 UTC
Note, when I speak about slash when it comes to GLBT issues, I include femme slash as well. When I talk about feminism issues, I talk about slash as m/m.
I’ve often found slash fans are supportive of gay rights and expression of sexual freedom. However, I don’t thinking writing or enjoying slash is an expression of supporting real-life queer people. Slash as a genre is usually an expression of a writer’ desires in my opinion. I’ve known slash fans across the board in the sexual spectrum with different attitudes to gay rights (very active or nonexistent). In the end, slash is an idealized setting that is self-indulgent that often strays into fetishism.
But that’s not a bad thing, I just don’t think slash is a genre is going to support GLBT rights. As a slash writer, I don’t think “Gee, I’m so SENSTIVE to alt-lifestyles’ despite my attempts to make the characters well rounded. I write what I enjoy and what I hope others will enjoy. And if the readers who enjoy it happen to fall into the GLBT category, I’m very glad! But usually when

I'm of the opinion that goes against the word of God. I think that some of the Air Benders escaped. A few of the younger ones who didn't have tattoos and weren't masters. As such, Air Bending as an art was all but lost until Aang returned. Most decedents of Air benders, however, are still afraid to come out of the word works.
I also like beckyh2112's take of feral Air Benders. The balance has ways of correcting itself if need be. It prefers the less painful way, though.
