The Confederacy wasn't very accustomed to guests showing up at his door. His...clients, so to speak, were never brought to his own house. And however much the guilt could nag at him, he had never alerted any of his states to his presence. Originally because he was so weak he couldn't...and as time went on, the southerner had settled into the secretiveness, and so while he still thought of them, he had never tried contacting an old acquaintance
( ... )
Texas begins to think there simply isn't anyone at the house, with how quiet the place seems. Or maybe they didn't want to open the door to a stranger. Perfectly reasonable. He considers leaving just before the door opens, but then puts on a charming friendly smile to greet the person-
Oh.
Oh.
Despite how much thought he had put into the assumption he wouldn't find the Confederacy, he hadn't really but much of anything into what he would do if he did find the former country. His mind goes blank and his smile falls and for a moment, he can't find any words.
When he finally does, they are simple and quiet. "You're alive."
CSA sighs softly, door only half open as if he were hiding behind it. But then he steps back from it, the door opening enough for Texas to step inside. Without thinking CSA reaches out, gently taking Texas by the arm.
"Come inside."
The home is simple, only what's necessary and a few extra pieces of decor here and there. Not much, but enough for the house to feel like a home.
"I imagine ya've traveled a bit. Shall I git ya somethang ta drink? Eat?"
Texas easily follows the prompting- He still has no idea what to do otherwise -And steps inside. His focus is on the Confederacy. Certainly, he had seen his past-self in Hammerspace not long ago, but it still felt like ages since he had seen him. And he looked so different...
His mind finally seemed to kick back into to gear and he cleared his throat a little. "Not as far as I thought I'd have to, honestly... I'd appreciate some water though, if ya don't mind."
