Just watched Lawnmower Man

Fantastic early-90s movie featuring what must have been state-of-the-art CGI for the time. A lot of the themes of the movie are hammered in pretty heavy-handedly, but they all still resonate today. Well, in fairness to that dude-- I don't remember how long it took me to learn the Latin alphabet, since I was about 4 or 5 at the time, but it was probably a little while anyway. I had a hard time writing letters for at least a year, I remember. (Though I do know that I picked up reading very quickly. My mom says that one week I was sounding out words letter-by-letter, and about a week later I was reading fluently. I was reading [kid's] chapter books when I was 6.)

I was an early reader too, and I'm still an avid reader to this day, and I love learning stuff. My parents got me potty trained by telling me that if I couldn't use the toilet on my own, I could never go to school. It was a very very effective threat, and I was essentially potty trained the next day.
