This is wonderful - I have often wondered what Kreacher would do when the Trio did not come back from the Ministry....and you pick it up from there and go on until we get to see him again during the Battle (ok you do it backwards, but :-) ) - thank you so much ♥
And the gloomy atmosphere during that term in Hogwarts is chilling!!

Love this! Kreacher is one of my *favorite* secondary characters, I just love him, and his battle cry in the Battle of Hogwarts makes me teary. He's such a great character. Thanks for doing him justice.

Wow! This is fantastic! I've often wondered how Kreacher survived those early days after Harry, Ron and Hermione escaped the Ministry. This story answers that question and I really like how you've made the timeline go backwards. I'm glad, too, that Kreacher feels he can help heal Master Harry after the Battle of Hogwarts. Nicely done.

Very nice! There were some wonderfully poignant little moments in this fic. Images like Kreacher desperately cooking dinners while waiting fruitlessly for Harry to return, being moved that Neville rated him as a human, and leading the house-elves out to fight so they could care for the children again really brought out how horribly sad it was for him that year. The reverse structure worked well to gradually show the details of how he got to that point.

I loved the idea that he would know for sure that Voldemort was lying when he said Harry was dead -- one of those things that never occur to you, but as soon as you hear them you think "yes, of course that must be how it happened, brilliant".

Anyway, I always thought the story of what Kreacher was doing while the Trio were on the run was just asking to be told, but didn't think anyone would be interested enough to tell it. So I was delighted to see someone take that ball and run with it! Thank you.

A wonderful tale. And it reveals quite the plothole: why didn't they call Kreacher? Since one can call up house-elves?

The whole Hogwarts episode is marvellous: the bleakness and anxiety of it. And the scene just before Kreacher storms out with the house-elves is canon, as far as I'm concerned.

Great job.
