This is a lovely, elegiac piece. I must admit I've never been all that interested in Draco, but the light you've shed on his relationship with Snape here is wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the first exchange with Kingsley, and the last bit with Neville--

Draco found it wasn't hard to say "Thank you," to a Gryffindor after all.

--finally, he's learning. :)

It's pleasing that you liked this little sidelight I dreamed up, of how Draco might feel and act, having better understood what was going on, and how much he owed Snape. Growing up, at last!

You wrote Draco!fic for me! With the Malfoy family *and* Neville! *dances*

What a lovely idea to let Draco have Snape's wand. I liked how you used the details of Snape's wand to characterise him, how the ornaments on the handle made for a firm grip.

I liked that you showed different sides of Draco: his not-being-ready to be grateful for Harry's victory over Voldemort, his care for Snape, his thoughts about Vince and Greg and how he perceived them as friends, his encounter with Neville.

To see Neville so calm and confident was lovely. I really enjoyed the small truce he and Draco formed over retrieving Snape's body. It started a change in Draco. Well, the chance obviously started earlier, with his experiences under Voldemort's and the Carrows' reign, but this is where we actually see Draco interacting with someone he used to taunt and bully.

It was quite a development from ... would just have to live it down, like the rest of them who had made mistakes to ... looked as if he would be returning to Hogwarts whether he wanted to or ( ... )

I'm very happy this pleased you! I wanted to show how things might change, instead of going on same old same old (which, really, is what the Epilogue did/implied), and how people might learn and grow - not just Draco, but Neville too; and how a different future might take shape.

YOu gave this a lot of hope at the end. I liked the horror and sense of impotence you convey over Lucius being wandless. I liked his embarrassment. Draco's and Lucius's deceit over their hidden wands was great as well.

Great characterizations of the Malfoys and Neville.

You went a long way toward honoring Snape.

Thanks for telling me what you liked. I wanted to tackle some of the small, practical issues that people might have concentrated on, after the battle was over and the tension eased off, and to suggest that people can change, and will to change (not just Draco and Neville at seventeen, but that Lucius might learn, too - even if just to control his tongue!).

Nice take on the Malfoys post-war. I liked the way Kingsley laid out their future, so to speak, very straightforward and methodical. Seeing Draco consider things on hindsight was interesting, too, and I was happy they went back for Snape's body.
