Wow. That was gorgeous and shattering at the same time -- seeing the final battle through Cho's eyes, in all its chaos and grief, was just wonderful. I love how you gradually built up her resistance through all those details of things we knew from canon filtered through the distance between Britain and China, and the scraps she picks up from Marietta, Michael, and Li Su.

This is such a fantastic piece, and captures so many different things at once. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Thank you very much! 'Chaos and grief' was pretty much what I was aiming for with the battle sequence, so it's nice to know that's how it came across. As for her journey, I was kind of playing it by ear myself. :)

Well, it came out wonderfully! You really captured what it's like to belong to multiple cultures at once and yet not really belong to either, which is just fantastic.

This was fabulous -- you really drew me into Cho's world (or worlds, as the case may be). I really loved the idea of spells working differently based on where you are and what language you use, and I teared up a little during the battle scene for some reason. Cho, and Cho's dad, and the boy who lost his friend, and Harry... *sniffles some more* Really nice work, mystery author.

Thank you very much! I'm glad to see that the things I put in like different spell effects and the horrors of battle seemed to have worked as I'd hoped.

great writing. I loved this- Cho's POV, her feelings of China and Britain, how she got confused with using Latin spells in China, and vice versa, Michael, Lee Jordan, and I loved ( ... )

Thank you. Cho gets a lot of criticism in fandom but I always thought she was a pretty decent, normal person with teenage emotions all over the place. And I wanted her father to be a bit strict but not too inflexible to come and help when she needed him.

Commenting again to add that I thought you did an excellent job dealing with cultural differences, especially the different attitudes of what is owed to parents and family.

Thank you -- I did have an early pointer there, but it's good to know that it seemed to strike a balance.

I really enjoyed this. While I enjoyed the China sections, I really felt for Cho, being so cut off for everyone in the UK (while also gradually starting to think of China as home), and was glad that you let her go home for that brief interlude. I loved the idea of magic having different properties depending on the language you're speaking! The battle scene was appropriately chaotic, and the whole thing strikes me as very well written.

Thank you -- I did rather make things awkward for her, but since I wanted her to actually meet with Michael and Marietta she got the chance to go back for a visit. Also, it broke things up a bit. :)
