Very nice. I actually haven't read many Founders fic and I really enjoyed this. You were able to give each Founder their own unique personalities.

Great job! :)

Yes, it could have been like that. You make them all human - even Salazar, with his arrogance (and bigotry, yes). Adults scrambling to keep up with children, lacking a full life of their own, though you show hints of what it has been, could be, if they weren't in that exhausting rut of trying to do the impossible.

We know what's coming, though Helga doesn't. However, we don't know how bad it was, that first time. Salazar seems to have brought malice to his work, which doesn't bode well.

Most interesting. Thanks.

Yes, the Hogwarts staff really do work hard, don't they? I once estimated that Snape, McGonagall and Flitwick each teach 35-40 hours of classes a week. On top of this they have to mark assignments and exams, set exams, take care of House business, and attend to school administrative duties. And I don't imagine the Founders had it much better in their time (though there was probably a lot less paperwork). It would wear anyone down, wouldn't it?

I liked this. I'd also be interested to see what happens next, but this was a satisfying read in itself, and a very convincing portrait of the founders and their world.

Thanks! I did consider having this as the first half of a longer fic, the second half of which would have been the "aftermath". But, you know, deadlines... :)

I have a soft spot for Founder fic and this is a lovely example.

Thank you! Yes, I have a soft spot for gen Founders fic, as well.

I've had so much fun writing this one and the previous one that I may decide to do a set of four, one from the perspective of each of the Founders. One day... *looks a pile of unfinished fic. sighs*

I hope you find time to do that one day.

It's an interesting idea. I have a lot to try to get done before Potterdammerung, but perhaps in the autumn I'll take another look at it.

Cheers!

Nicely done -- I like the image of the guttering candle, and also the final lines, which are very Hufflepuff-ish.
