Some Servers Need to KNOW How to Take a Customer's Order

Some servers today don't know how to take your order in a restaurants. Sometimes, I honestly have had better luck getting my order correct at fast food restaurants at times. It's sad, it really is.

A good example, is twice I have ordered the garden salad at Red Lobster with saying "No tomatoes and No cucumbers." BOTH times, the servers made the side salads(the servers make the side salads at Red Lobster), without the onions. WHY is it that servers ASSUME or that you'd have to say "I would like the croutons and the onions, etc." Don't you think that's RIDICULOUS to list everything that comes in something just because you are saying you don't want 2 things that come in the item, yet these servers that assume like this are just plain STUPID? Even a cashier at McDonald's didn't assume I wanted my big mac plain without anything on it just because I ask for no pickles and extra special sauce. They still give me the onions, cheese, and lettuce.  If anything, the only problems I encounter with the big mac is that they sometimes still make it with the pickles, but I have NEVER had even a CASHIER ASSUME things to eliminate items. WHAT is it with servers that don't LISTEN to what you ordered? While I understand that because I eliminated more than one item, they automatically assumed I wanted the salad plain, but they didn't LISTEN. I NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER ONCE said "no onions" One of the waitresses said she thought I wanted it plain.

WTF DO SOME SERVERS NOT LISTEN? WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HERE? These type of servers need to go back to fast food or if they never worked at one, they need to work there FIRST, because they don't know HOW to take an order.

This is a picture of Red Lobster's garden salad.  I KNOW MORE ABOUT THE FOOD THAN THEY DO IT SEEMS!! See in the picture, there's a slice of red onion. IT COMES WITH ONIONS, SO WHY LEAVE ONIONS OUT IF I DIDN'T SAY I DIDN'T WANT ONIONS, HUH? WHY not actually LISTEN to what I asked for instead of assuming?

I have had another situation where I ordered years ago the Cajun Chicken Sandwich at Chili's.

"Cajun Chicken Sandwich
spicy, Cajun-style grilled chicken breast with jalapeno Jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, chipotle-ranch dressing, Awesome Blossom strings"

I ordered it with a written order(because it was so complicated for me to remember everything, it was easier to write it).

This is the order:

Cajun Chicken Sandwich:

Substitute Cheddar cheese for jalapeno jack cheese
No Tomatoes
No pickles
No Chipolte-ranch
Add onions

When the sandwich came, the lettuce and the onion strings were missing.  I told her about that lettuce and onion strings COME on the sandwich and she replies "I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THAT." So she admitted fault that she put in the order wrong and it wasn't that the kitchen staff messed up by saying just that.

I feel WHAT IDIOTS are OUT THERE taking our orders and not ***LISTENING**** to WTF WE ARE SAYING?

WHY ASSUME SO MUCH, WHY?

Other times, I order ADDING or even at a time or two ordered by saying "I would like the mozzarella sticks and I would like to ADD a side of ranch" or a few times I have said "I would like the mozzarella sticks with a side of ranch."

Here's a menu description for example:

http://www.carside.net/menu_popup.htm

"MOZZARELLA STICKS
Golden fried and served with a tasty marinara sauce. $6.69"

This means that if I order mozzarella sticks, I AUTOMATICALLY am ORDERING the marinara unless I SPECIFICALLY say I don't want the marinara, which is the sauce it comes with that I am PAYING for, which at most restaurants, they don't even charge for extra condiments.

WHY is it that servers ASSUME you could ONLY POSSIBLY WANT ONE SAUCE, especially when APPETIZERS are normally SHARED, which means that one person may want ranch, the other may want marinara or both people may want more than one sauce. WHY is it that  SOME servers are too STUPID to take an order at times?

I shouldn't even have to say "I would like to ADD a side of ranch" in order to get both sauces, because the MENU has that I am supposed to get the other sauce, which in this case is marinara. I should be able to just say "I would like the mozzarella sticks with ranch."  Servers, quit thinking it's totally impossible to have more than one dipping sauce and if it's free to the customer, WTF should you give a care if you give me both? The customer is already paying for the sauce it comes with in the price of the item.

The server should NEVER asks if I want both sauces if extra sauces aren't being charged to the customer if I don't say I don't want the sauce it comes with or if I don't say it's a substitution, because it's free the extra sauces, so the customer isn't going to be affected by the extra sauce since it's on the SIDE anyway, so it's not affecting the food itself.

Now, if the restaurant DOES charge for extra condiments, that's when a good server may asks if the customer wants both sauces, but ONLY THEN.  Don't waste customer's time asking questions if the extra sauces are free to the customer.

It's kind of like one time at Wendy's, my husband ordered a combo and a side salad, which now-a-days, you can pick which side you want and not have to get fries necessarily, well the cashier was SMART, she asked since it DOES COSTS extra whether he wanted the side salad as his SIDE dish or a side salad as a separate side dish as well as the combo, which he wanted both.  THAT type of situation I can see asking.

Asking about burgers or sandwiches or anything that can be affected by the food that isn't on the side should ALWAYS be asked by the server if unsure, such as just because the menu states the burger for example comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles, the customer may not realize it or just didn't read the menu or whatever, so it's a GOOD IDEA to asks if they want all those things on their burger or sandwich.

Also, many of times, I have said "ONLY" which didn't include pickles or "NO pickles" and stupid servers STILL SERVE me a plate with pickles on it.  How STUPID can you be to not NOTICE that? I know people make mistakes, but 9 times out of 10, the servers just serve-n-run and don't care about what's on the plate, especially if it's not your server, that MOST other servers don't compare the ticket to the food since it's not their money on the line.
