I can't believe I missed this last round especially considered it was for one of my own bloody prompts! This is gorgeous - utterly, utterly fabulous, I love the detail, I love the cleverness of the idea, I love Sparda and Eva and their personalities and their relationship, I love her practicality and the fact that despite all care taken she's still that little bit swoony over him in a non-stereotypical way and nearly (but not quite, because she's that awesome) makes a silly mistake on account, and it is just really really wonderful.

Plus the idea of holy water - real holy water - being scary-as-hell to a human is fabulous ^^.

It was kind of the prompt's fault. After all, 'religiously' holy water is good for humans but terrible for demons, but given the differences in HP between the two and the fact it affects Lady in the boss battle... This Eva has blue orbs, of course, but she's still got mass quantities in that thing. So I had my Eva muse in my head going the stereotype is not the reality and that everyone involved would be much safer if it was Sparda handling holy water... but meh.

The paranoia with which it was handled and the idea of using holy water as a boobytrap is all from Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. In which it was a demon using it as a defense, by the way...

Oh, I *love* Good Omens. It's fabulous. I still love the "...ohcrap" moment Crowley has when the not-actually-holy-water in his water spray gets on his hand so the other demon goes after him, and I've always wondered what the actual melting must look like... a bit like the guy who got sprayed with toxic waste in Robocop is how I usually figure it goes.

And yeah, holy water in the DMC games definitely would have to be something quite different from the regular stuff, all things considered Lady's reaction to it (and, to a lesser degree, the way Dante and Vergil both take similar damage to it as regular demons despite being half-and-half).

Oh! Omg, and I've totally forgotten to bug you and Nemi about this, but I finally finished that Legacy of Kain fic I did for NaNoWriMo. Can't wait for you to get a chance to read it :D, especially because you two are so wonderful with detail catching. *hugs*!

I can't get into Neil Gaiman, which was disappointing since I had an opinion going in with him based on that awesome collab. Good Omens rocks.

Although there are various indications among her game capabilities that Lady's not exactly normal. If you take into account the first novel (and it's where they got DMC3 Vergil's inspiration and much else regardless of canon status) she can't be pure human~ So it's not an absolute indicator that holy water is demon only, but this is DMC. EVERYTHING kills humans. Unless they have blue orbs and so on...

Yeah, I saw that you did the fic. I'm not up to concrit at the moment, so I made a note to read it later. I'll bug her about it right now.~
