Prompt: FFVII, Zack/Cloud: tentacles - he came back from a mission a little different.

Cloud took one step into the Barracks, felt the hair on the back of his neck rise, and dove to the right to laughter of his squad mates.

He was just in time to miss being tackled by many pounds of Bored Look-Ma-No-Hands-Or-Feet! Zack.

Watching the dark haired SOLDIER rise from his landing, Cloud eyed the multitude of limbs, watching their color and movements.

Bright neon purple, relaxed, no stingers.

Good, no trouble today then. Then again it was going to be another month until the scientist was out of the hospital-one would think that one mauling was enough for Hojo.

“Hey Cloud! Wanna do something?” The fact that Zack was down here meant that: He’d gotten away from the scientists-which apparently wasn’t that hard, seeing as Zack had what he called the Sleepy Time Pheromone. Slipped past the SOLDIERs on guard-which also wasn’t that hard as the SOLDIERs had collectively decided to not look up when Zack was trying to escape. And had already bugged the hell out of Angeal, Genesis, and Sephiroth, in that order, with a side helping of various Turks and a possible call to Aeris.

“All right, gimmie a minute to shower.” Scooping up the clothes he had let on his bed Cloud made a beeline for the showers. Excluding the mornings turn around the obstacle course, the 116th had the rest of the day off. And almost all had plans tonight.

By the time he was out of the shower, several of the squad were headed out the door, a few were still getting dressed, while the rest were rinsing off. After near two months of constant exposure the squad had come to accept the changes in their honorary member, and was even starting to have some of their old conversations again.

But not even asking Zack how many he’d floored today escaping was enough of a lure to keep the men longer than necessary.

“I’m set to go.”

“Yes! It’s movie night up on the SOLDIER floor, it’s an oldie, but goodie.” Cloud waited until Zack was repositioned on the ceiling before heading out. It had been surprisingly easy to get used to hearing Zack’s voice come from above him, though he wondered how long it would be until Heidegger realized his mistake.

Did the man really think that ordering Zack to ‘Not set one limb onto that hallway floor’ would keep him in the labs?
