Prompt: Avatar, Toph/Sokka: a public display - “If you featherbrains hadn’t noticed, he’s with me.”
Sokka couldn’t remember the name of this place; they had stopped in so many towns like this, things tended to blur. Since they didn’t dare weight Appa down with too many supplies-not with every firebender after their heads-as a result they tended to stop every few days to restock.
‘Speaking of supplies…’
Sokka did a quick mental review of what he was supposed to buy verses what he had already acquired. Finding everything he checked the sun and started towards the inn. From the look of things he had just enough time to drop everything off at the inn and get his butt to the docks. A few hours work unloading fish and prepping it for sale tomorrow would gain him some coins and some information.
Seeing one of his landmarks-the only way to really navigate towns like these-he checked his metal map of the city.
‘Let’s see here, gaudy red sign with a blue vase, that means…put it on my left side and walk three blocks, and take the next left should get me into sight distance of the inn.’
Surprised pulled his attention up front to find his path had been blocked. Three women surrounded him, two with very fake blonde dye jobs, the other a natural thick black. Pale skin all three, covered with layers of make up-reminded him of the time Katara had gotten into their mother’s ceremonial colorings and made a mess of her face. What clothing they were wearing left very little to the imagination. He had a blonde on each shoulder and the black haired one in front.
Sokka found himself pulled into a game of flirting with the three, and while he knew he shouldn’t, he couldn’t help but flirt back. As the three started to subtly herd in towards their building Sokka mentally threw his plans for the docks over his shoulder. They had enough coin to last until the next town and to be honest the last three stops he had gotten the same bits of news. He could wait until the next stop to go fishing-
The slight vibration he felt through his feet was the only warning he got to brace himself before the earth moved and Sokka looked down to find the ladies scattered around him like nine-pins. And standing in front of him, looking very NOT HAPPY was Toph.
“If you featherbrains hadn’t noticed, he’s with me.”
The girls looked at Toph, to Sokka, and back to Toph. A moment later the street was three people less as the girls scampered for their brothel. Walking up to him, Toph gave him her best impression of an Evil Eye-which really just made him want to laugh his head off, but he knew better.
“Shouldn’t you be getting down to the docks?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m goin’, I’m goin’.” Shoving his bags into Toph’s hands, Sokka turned to go back the way he had come.
It was about time Toph left the inn.
Ummm...Not quiet sure how this one turned out, I think my original bunny wandered off and this poped up in its place.
