That was absolutely gorgeous. And slightly heart-wrenching. (at times, I was faintly reminded of The Last Unicorn in the tone) I loved the repetition of the wolf being king and "She lost her words. The wolf said nothing." The part speaking of how the wolf has grown old was when I started having the feeling things weren't going to end well. But goodness, the end (and all of this) was so well written. The end wasn't overblown with theatrics, but had a wonderful, quiet poignancy to it. And that quote by Byron was just - ohhh even more heart-wrenching after finishing.
