2x06 No Exit
Dean and Sam head back to the Roadhouse after having run across an artifact that Jem had been looking for. Dean ribs Sam about Jem and his continuing email contact with her. Sam’s negative/awkward responses only prove Dean’s point.
They arrive at the Roadhouse and are greeted by Jem and Ellen. To their surprise they also meet Rachel, an old friend. She greets Sam warmly but her reaction to Dean is strained. They also discover that Jem and Rachel are old friends and occasional hunting partners. On this occasion Rachel has stopped by to ask Jem to join her on a hunt in Philadelphia where a series of young women has gone missing from a recently renovated apartment building. Jem invites Sam and Dean to join them and Sam readily accepts, both semi-oblivious to Dean and Rachel’s consternation.
Upon arriving in Philadelphia the gang splits up, Rachel and Jem interrogate the landlord while Sam and Dean look over the latest abductee’s room. While searching the room, Sam and Dean discover ectoplasm, an indicator that they’re dealing with something more powerful than the average spook.
Rachel and Jem are able to finagle a room out of an overwhelmed landlord which becomes a joint base of operations. Jem quickly volunteers her and Sam for building exploration duty and Dean and Rachel head out to various public offices to dig up more history on the site. Jem takes this opportunity to “show” Sam the bedroom.
Later, while investigating Sam and Jem share personal stories. Sam also hints at the problems he’s having coming to terms with his developing psychic powers. They discover more clues about the abductor and head back to base to find Rachel and Dean sifting through piles of paper and having a silent argument. With their appearance Rachel leaves and Dean does the same after Sam asks about what’s going on. One thing leads to another and Sam and Jem end up having something more than sex.
That night another girl is abducted and hard-core research ensues the next morning. They discover that the apartment building was erected over the place Dr. H.H. Holmes, America’s first serial killer, was executed and that he may be holding his latest victim in a hidden room. While searching for said room Jem is abducted. She’s held captive by Holmes until Sam, Dean, and Rachel climb through an obsolete sewer system and find her. Jem volunteers to be bait and they capture Holmes in his own dungeon. They cap it off with cementing Holmes in and agreeing to meet back at the Roadhouse for a celebratory drink.
While at the Roadhouse Sam decides, over Dean’s objection, to act on Jem’s advice and tells her, Rachel, and Ellen about what they know about the Yellow-eyed Demon’s plans and Sam’s own psychic powers.

Rachel: Sam, how are you even taller? You can't still be growing!
Sam: I've always been taller than you, Rachel. Your memory is just playing tricks on you.
