Summary: Before gym, Kurama seemed fine. After, he totally ignored you. Now you're afraid you somehow made him upset in that one period.
Notes: Old fanfic is old. I'm gonna be posting a number of some old fanfics before we get anything at least kinda current. This was originally posted on FoS-FF.net HERE.

You looked out the classroom window to see the sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. It sucked to be cooped up indoors on such nice weather. Gym was next period so you were hoping maybe you would get to go outside and enjoy the sun before lunch. You looked over your shoulder to see Kurama taking down notes from what the teacher was saying. You knew he actually didn't need to write down any notes. As soon as Kurama hears something he'll remember it for the rest of his life. He only did it to keep up his human life façade. A sigh escaped your lips, you wanted out so badly.

As if it was a sign from the heavens, the bell rang signaling the end of the period.

"Well that's all for today. We'll be having a quiz next Friday so start studying," your teacher, Soga Airi-sensei said. You weren’t paying too much attention. You were just bursting with excitement to get to gym already.

The boys in the class got up and grabbed their gym bags to go to the next room to change. Kurama turned to you and gave you a glance. He was telling you he would see you at gym. With that Kurama left the room.

When all the boys evacuated the room, the girls grabbed their bags and started changing. You unbuttoned your uniform top and threw it onto your desk and then slipped on your gym shirt. You then took off your skirt. You always wore shorts under your skirt, and since today was gym you put the gym shorts on this morning. You switched your knee-high socks for regular white socks and changed into your sneakers. You were always the first girl done changing. All the girls talked about the latest episode of whatever drama was popular at the moment, make-up or most of all, Shuuichi Minamino.

You had no interest in any of those, so you would just quickly change to get out of the classroom. There was no point in lingering there. You loved gym, so to stay and talk to girls you don't have anything to do with seemed pointless. You slowly opened the door, and opened it only enough so you could get out so no one would be able to see the classroom of naked girls. When you got out of the classroom you closed the door right behind you and started walking over to the gym.

On the way there you met up with Kurama who was also finished changing. The class the boys changed in was all the way down the hall. It was probably the hopes of Meiou thinking the boys would be less likely to go peak at the girls. Though if the boys really wanted to peak at the girls, being down the hall wouldn't stop them. They tried it a few times, but every time they did, their plans were foiled, either by Kurama or you. Kurama would talk them out of it, which worked the first couple times, but then they started not caring, and that's when you stepped in. Kurama gave you the heads up and then you would stand guard outside the classroom and told them to back away, and when they didn't you made sure they would never want to get near the classroom with changing girls again.

When you got to the gym, you weren't surprised to see that you and Kurama were the first ones. You always were. You decided on doing some stretches before class started. First starting with stretching out your arms and then your legs. Slowly the class made their way to the gym.

When it was time for gym to start the gym teacher, Matsuoka Shouhei-sensei entered the gym. "Today for class we'll be dancing."

Your heart sank, you were really hoping for running or something that got you outside. You heard the lot of the boys moaned; they weren't looking forward to dancing either. Though the girls seemed pretty happy since they wouldn't have to do any running then.

You just sighed and decided to make the best of it, nothing you could do about it, so you were at least gonna have some fun. If you were lucky you would get paired up with Kurama. After all, you two were dating. Dancing with him could be fun.

"I'll be assigning you all to your partners at random," Shouhei-sensei stated. Well that makes getting paired with Kurama harder.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine, with or without me as a partner," Kurama said. Kurama could tell you were worried about the partner match up.

"I'm more worried about you Shuuichi. Mister number one heartthrob of Meiou High," you teased. Kurama smiled at you, and that's when Shouhei-sensei paired off everyone.

Five minutes later, everyone was standing with his or her partners in a line. You stared at Kurama. But he stood beside you rather in front. You weren't fortunate enough to be paired with Kurama this time around. You sighed; your partner was Manabe Kaname. It's not that Kaname is a bad person, quite on the contrary. After Kurama, he had to be the most popular boy in the school. He was in the top five in your class and extremely handsome. But it still didn't change the fact that you would rather be paired off with Kurama. You were sure Kurama was thinking the same thing as you now. He was paired off with Minagawa Motoko, the president of the Shuuichi Minamino fan club.

"For today's lesson, we'll be doing the Waltz," Shouhei-sensei stated.

As Shouhei-sensei explained everything about the waltz and how hands should be positioned, Kaname, was following along exactly. He had one arm around your waist, and brought the two of you close together and held your right hand with his left.

After demonstrating how to do the box step, Shouhei-sensei told everyone to practice it. When you were doing it with Kaname it seemed very effortless with him. You looked over to Kurama to see he did the step without a problem; however, his partner was having a bit of a problem and he showed was slowly and kindly explaining to her how to do the step.

"[Last Name]-San?" Kaname asked.

"Yes?" you replied. You weren't paying attention to your partner and you felt a bit bad, but you were worried about Kurama. Surely he knew that Motoko was faking not knowing how to do the dance. You knew it was silly of you to have those thoughts, if you realized, of course Kurama did. But you couldn't help, but worry.

"Are you worried about Minamino?" Kaname asked.

"Yeah," you admitted. "He's paired off with the president of his fan club, so I'm bound to worry since he's my friend."

"I see," Kaname said. "But there was something I was wondering."

"What is it?" you asked.

"Well there are rumors going around that you and Minamino are dating. Is it true?" Kaname asked.

You weren't sure how to reply. It was true that you were, but you didn't tell anyone that the two of you were dating. You weren't comfortable telling people that you two were dating since the Shuuichi Minamino fan club can be quite scary. But you weren't a good liar at all. Your head was spinning, trying to figure out how to explain to him, without saying yes.

"Whether we do or don't is something that concerns me and Shuuichi. I don't think whether I'm dating concerns anyone besides really close confidants," you said. "I'm sorry if it sounds rude, but I don't like speaking of my private life with people too much."

"I understand, but since you're undisclosed that leaves room for the possibility of being single," Kaname stated.

"That it does," you replied.

"Then someone I know still has a chance," Kaname said. You were a bit confused by that statement. Someone was interested in you? You weren't used to attention, or really as your friends put it, you weren't used to being aware of the attention.

Kaname, thankfully, put the topic of your relationship status to an end. Shouhei-sensei taught how to do the progressive step as well as the promenade step. You couldn't get over how well Kaname could dance. No matter how much of a good dancer he could be, there's no way he should be this good for a first time.

"Manabe-san, have you done the waltz before?" you asked.

"What makes you ask that?" Kaname replied.

"You're to be too good for a first time," you stated.

"I'll admit, I've done the waltz a couple of times in the past," Kaname admitted.

"I see…" you said, your voice trailed off in the end.

Before you knew it, class was over. It was then when you were breaking away from Kaname did you realize how close your bodies have gotten during the period.

"I guess I'll see you in class later Manabe-san," you said and walked towards Kurama.

"Have fun?" you smiled.

"Not particularly," Kurama replied.

"Was Motoko that much of a problem?" you asked in a concerned tone. You knew you were right to worry about the pairings.

"No it wasn't Motoko that was the problem," Kurama replied.

"Oh," is all you managed to say. Now you were confused. What else was there to be concerned about besides him being paired off with Motoko?

The walk back the classroom was quiet between the two of you. You could tell Kurama was upset, but you weren't sure what he was upset about. He smiled, but if was the false smile. You knew he was always most upset whenever he was trying hard to make sure he looked happy. He fooled everyone… but you that is. You always knew when Kurama was upset. Kurama walked into the classroom where he got changed and you continued to walk down the hall by yourself.

Now you couldn't stop thinking about Kurama. You were now really worried about him. Whenever he was upset, you always got upset. You quickly changed back to your uniform and waited for next period to start. You laid your head on your desk as the rest of the girls were changing. Motoko gushed about how amazing it was to be Shuuichi's dancing partner. Maybe he really was upset about Motoko, and didn't want to admit it? No, you could tell he meant that he wasn't upset about Motoko.

Eventually the girls finished changing and the boys migrated back into the classroom and Motoori Rikuto came in. You took out your math textbook and listened to Motoori-sensei. You would quickly glance over at Kurama, he still seemed upset, and not once during the period did he make any glances at you. Usually he would. Especially when you would glance over to him. He always knew when you did. So now his mind was really preoccupied that he isn't as aware as usual or he's ignoring you. Could it be he was mad at you? It would explain his lack of talking on the way back from gym.

Now you were worried. You tried to think of anything you might have done to upset him. It had to be during gym. He wasn't mad before gym. You couldn't think of anything that you did that would upset Kurama.

"[Last Name]-san, do number 43 on the board," Motoori-sensei said.

"Hai," you replied. You quickly glanced at problem. It was something you could do. Motoori-sensei wrote it on the board already. You began solving the equation and when you were done, you sat back down. On your way back to your seat, you could see Kurama avoiding eye contact with you. You must have really made him upset. You felt horrible and wanted to find a way to make up for it.

Math seemed to go by quickly today. You had lunch now, and you and Kurama went to the rooftop to eat your lunch. You weren't sitting next to each other like you usually did. Today, he sat over by the fence, while you were by the door. And to top it all off the two of you ate in silence. He didn't speak to you at all. The silence was killing you inside. You wanted him to talk to you so badly.

"I'm sorry," you said. Kurama turned to you with a confused look on his face.

"What?" he asked.

"I'm sorry for upsetting you. I didn't mean to," you replied. You were starting to choke up. You loved Kurama a lot. You didn't want him to be upset with you. "I don't know what I did, but I'll make up for it, so please just talk to me."

"You think I'm mad at you?" Kurama asked. You nodded your head meekly. "What makes you think I'm mad at you?"

"You weren't talking to me after gym, and during math you completely ignored me," you replied. Kurama put down his lunch and walked over to you and hugged you.

"You're so silly [Name]," Kurama stated. "I could never be mad at you."

"Then why were you ignoring me?" you asked. He pulled away from the hug and wiped the tears from your face.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to upset you," Kurama replied.

"It's ok, as long as you aren't mad at me," you stated. You felt much better knowing Kurama wasn't mad at you. "Wait, you didn't answer my question."

"I was hoping you wouldn't notice the topic change," Kurama said lightly.

"Tell me," you said.

"You really want to know?" Kurama asked and you nodded your head vigorously. Kurama sighed; he knew you wouldn't be happy unless you had an answer.

"When we weren't chosen to be and when I was partnered up with Motoko I was upset by that," Kurama said.

"Liar," you said.

"What do you mean?" Kurama asked.

"I can imagine you being upset not being partnered with me and being partnered with Motoko instead, but not something to ignore me over," you replied. "Now tell me the truth."

"I was hoping you would accept that as the truth," Kurama said. "I'm embarrassed- no. I'm ashamed that I felt this way." Now you gave Kurama a questioning look. He lost you, completely lost you.

"Could you elaborate?" you asked.

"When you were with Kaname…" Kurama started and then took a deep breath. He struggled saying his reason. "When you were with Kaname, [Name]. I could see it in his eyes, the way he looked at you."

"Yeah?" you said in a questioning tone. You still need him to elaborate more for you. This is probably one of the reasons why everyone said they would feel bad for your boyfriend in the future. You were so slow and dense. Everything went over your head.

"I could see him bring your body closer to his. The look of pleasure on his face knowing he was partnered with you. He had the most smug look on his face when I looked over to see you," Kurama explained. It was then everything was clicking in your head.

"Kurama, are you… jealous?" you asked. The thought seemed laughable. Kurama. Jealous. He was never jealous. You only saw him as the kind and considerate person you fell in love with.

"I'm afraid so," Kurama replied. "I ignored you because I didn't want to say something that would have hurt you. While at gym I thought about all one thousand five hundred and forty three ways I could kill him."

You couldn't help, but laugh. Kurama was the type to think of so many scenarios for any action especially when he felt he needed to protect something he treasured deeply.

"And I also didn't want you to know that I was jealous," Kurama finished.

"Why wouldn't you want me to know that you were jealous?" you asked.

"I was afraid," Kurama said.

"'Afraid'?" you repeated.

"Yes, afraid. I was afraid if you found out that I was jealous then you would start to think of other things about me and my personality that you wouldn't have liked and then realize that you didn't want me anymore," Kurama explained.

"How could you ever think that? Give me a bit more credit than that. I love you with all my heart and soul, and to give you up over something as silly as jealously is just plain idiotic," you replied.

"I have an ugly personality. Shuuichi Minamino is nothing, but a lie. I manipulate a situation to my benefit, and no one knows who I truly am," Kurama said. "I don't deserve someone as great as you in my life. Unlike me, you are so pure and I'm afraid when you realize that, you will leave me."

"Your personality is far from ugly. And even if your personality were ugly, I would gladly sully my so-called pureness to join you. Kurama you are the one who holds the key to my heart, and no one else could ever touch me as you do. You manipulate the situation for the better, you always think of the people you care about first. And if you truly believe no one knows who you really are, then show me. I want to be there for you… forever," you said. You meant every word of it too.

"What if I'm evil?" Kurama asked.

"I shall become evil too," you replied. "To protect you, I would join you in anything you do."

Kurama embraced you again and hugged you tightly and didn't let go, "I was hoping that you would say that. I always hoped, but I never believed that you would."

"For you Kurama, I would do anything," you said as you gently hugged him back.
