buttons was limping friday morning when we woke up, and when it didn't get any better (and she proceeded to throw up, shake, and pant from being in pain) we took her to the vet. turns out she tore her acl (a ligament over her knee

My friend from school tore her acl too! but she isn't a dog.

what did they do for her? did it heal on its own or did they have to operate? buttons is totally miserable and i'm really concerned. her right back leg has gotten too sore from her walking on it (it's the left one that's busted) so she's been trying to walk only on her front legs recently! so she's been crated all day :-/

They had to operate and she was on crutches for a few weeks. Is an acl the type of thing that can heal on its own? What did the vet say? Surgery for Buttons would be quite an ordeal...

i don't think any of us could afford to get her operated on. the vet said that with two weeks of bed rest she'd get better, but now that she's been only walking on her right back leg, that one is also worthless. so she's got only two front feet.
she's been laying down all day with an inability to even go from laying to sitting on her own. bum day :-/

My mom tore her acl a few years ago and needed surgery. But Buttons is all better now!!
