I guess I wish I could believe that, but what he said carries about as much political weight as saying he supports banana bread. He said he personally supports it...but that it's for the states to decide. In other words - he won't do anything to change it. He just supports it. Not a real strong political stance.

Tenth hour of an election year? Maybe. But also five days before this fundraiser. If you think that, and the deep pockets there, had nothing to do with his blatant flip-flop on the issue? Think again.

Romney did the same thing when he was running against Ted Kennedy in MA. But he didn't make a public statement about it, he wrote a letter. Also, he was going to wait until next week when he was scheduled to appear on The View to make the announcement, but since Biden spilled the beans on Sunday's Meet the Press, he had to make the announcement earlier.

Flip-flopping has been the cornerstone of politicians across the board, so I don't think that's a huge issue for Obama, because he's flip-flopped on a lot of things. And yeah, I agree it's not exactly something that's got a lot of weight...this is a states issue and will remain so for the foreseeable future. However, Conservatives have a lot of money too, and a lot of his constituents are extremely conservative, so that he said it at all is huge, even if it was motivated by the bottom line.

Glee wouldn't have storylines about openly gay characters if it hadn't been for Will & Grace. Additionally, Will & Grace showed gay adults, which I think is a distinction, and while Jack is very much a stereotype, Will appears much "straighter," and Will & Grace is centered on a relationship between a gay man and a straight woman, while Glee is about high school kids and their problems and their singing. Kurt is a main character, of course, but it's not the Kurt Show. And for all the good it does with Kurt's storyline, I hate how the show treats Santana and Brittany, but I pretty much expect gay men to get priority over lesbians in mainstream media ( ... )

See, I remember a little show back in the early to mid 80s that ran on Showtime, but also had a nice run on UHF channels up until the early 90s. It was called Brothers, and in the first episode the youngest came out to his siblings (at his wedding, which was called off). The series dealt with their lives afterward, and included a football player coming out. I always think its sad not enough people remember this show. It was really great.
