Summary: Amy is frightened, horribly frightened and unable to open her eyes again, yes the Angels are back, can River keep her new lover safe?
River Song has become an expert at shielding Amy from harm. She’s not sure when she fell for the girl, or just when she realised that Amy had become the Angels target yet again, but she knows she has to keep the girl safe from harm. Any way she can. Her way is that of someone who adores Amy, which she does, and she refuses to let the girl feel in danger for even a second.
Amy had been sick once and in River’s care. She was pretty sure that was when she had fallen for Amy, although she wasn’t about to tell the girl so as that was still in Amy’s future, pre love-affair for River but post love-affair for Amy. Her eyes hadn’t left Amy that day and they didn’t leave the girl now. Amy was far too precious to be risked.
Tenderness was clear in River’s eyes despite her lack of willingness to admit she cared. She got the feeling that Amy knew anyway. Amy was currently nestled tightly against River, her head shoved firmly into River’s neck, small frightened whimpers escaping the girl. River had thought she was doing well with comforting the girl. Now she wasn’t so sure. She was willing to risk anything to take care of the girl, even if it meant she had to make a first move in their relationship.
Amy had looked up as she backed up a little, not opening her eyes but giving a small, confused whine, a whine that only stopped when River kissed her. The kiss had been tender at first but grown fierce, loving and passionate. Amy had seemed distracted by it and River had been glad of the fact. She adored this girl. Her girl. Her Amy. Not the type of girl who fell headlong for the doctor even if she had loved him from a young age. Her Amy, the girl who loved her and who she loved in return.
Amy had stilled when she sensed someone coming near, River standing slowly, picking Amy up, refusing to force the girl to stumble along this time. She had smiled as she kissed the girl, feeling the girl’s breath catch.
“I love you.”
The admittance had surprised her but she had meant it. She did love Amy. She would always love Amy.
