Guns & Curls: A River Song Ficathon
It’s that time of year again! We’ve been left with another massive cliffhanger and a thousand more questions about River Song, and the solution is obvious: it’s time for another ficathon to tide us over until we get more River in the fall! Those of you who’ve been around for a while may remember last year, and how much fun it was!
What is a Ficathon?
A ficathon is basically a way to generate massive amounts of really awesome fanfiction. People posts prompts (which I will explain below) and other people respond with fanfiction. There’s also a time limit-you get a certain number of days to fill prompts before the ficathon is over.

Rules
- All prompts and fics must be focused on / heavily feature River Song
- All ratings, genres, kinks, characters and crossovers are welcome,
and will not be bashed. Bashing the contents of anyone's prompt
and/or fic will result in the deletion of your comment and possibly being
banned from spoiler_song. Kinks should be properly labeled in the
notes section.
- Feel free to pimp your fanfiction in other communities, but please do not post your ficathon fanfic to spoiler_song outside of the comments section of this post. This will cut down on f-list spam and keep the ficathon post easier to find for newcomers.
- Please only post prompts, fics or feedback here, in order to keep everything neat. In other words, no seconding or claiming prompts. ETA: Guys, I mean this. Ficathons can get out of control very quickly. Any comments in opposition to this rule will be deleted.
- More than one fanfic can be written in response to a single prompt- don’t sweat it if you’re 3/4 done with your most epic story ever and someone else posts a fanfic for the same prompt.
Posting Prompts
Prompts can be nearly anything -situations, quotes, song lyrics, or evocative phrases are all popular. ‘Other specifications’ involves further refining your prompt-for example, rating, Things Not To Write, ‘no spoilers for ____’, etc. The 'other specifications' category is not required.

Posting Fanfiction
You have two choices on how to post your fanfiction. If it’s too lengthy to fit into a comment or if you just prefer to keep all your fanfic neatly on your journal (as I do), feel free to post it there. You may then post a link in the following format in response to the prompter’s comment.

Commenting
First of all, if someone responds to your prompt, it’s good manners to comment on the fic, even if you don’t like it. A simple ‘Hey, thanks for filling my prompt!’ will suffice. If you can say something nice about it, please do. Remember, flames and/or bashing of characters or pairings will not be permitted here -take it elsewhere.
One of the things that most distinguishes a ficathon from regular fic writing is the comments--part of the process of a ficathon is reading as many of the fics you can and commenting on them, even if you're usually more of a lurker. Share the love!

I will be compiling a masterlist of fanfics written for the ficathon here, if you're here to read and don't want to sift through the prompts looking for fanfiction to enjoy.
Like last year, when the ficathon is over we will be compiling a list of orphaned prompts for anyone to claim at any time. So if you really liked that one idea someone gave but just don't have time to write right now, don't worry! It will be there later. :)
