Oh, this is lovely. The symmetry of the bookending scenes -- lost and found -- is really effective against the middle section. I felt myself uncertain, like Spock, just what was going on, until that moment of enlightenment when Uhura realized he missed her. And the subtlety with which you've depicted the relationship is something I really admire because it's difficult to do!

Definitely saving this to my Delicious links/recs to read again. (And share!)

Thank you, I am so flattered! I was a little uncertain myself, wondering if it was TOO subtle what was going on, but I didn't want to overanalyze and then end up killing the effect. As long as people get it at that realization, that's what matters to me the most I think.
