*Chuckles* I've been reading the novelisation aloud to my husband, and he says my Spock sounds more like Data -- but I think that's a matter of tonality rather than vocabulary.

As an English student, it's not hard writing Spock. Just pretend you're trying to impress an Oxford Don, and you're there :D

Thank you so much for your kind comments, very much appreciated.

Love it!! I hadn't thought about him being a science officer, and that he might not have crossed paths with Uhura unless she sought him out, neat approach! I really enjoyed reading this, and look forward to more.

Firstly: Icon Love!

Secondly: Thank you!

Thirdly: It just struck me right off! From the moment Uhura singled Spock out in the hangar, I was just thinking, "Well, I'd never take my grievances to the Psychology Department, I wouldn't even know who they are, so why would an officer from a completely different discipline worry about favouritism?" Obvious answer to me was because they have a personal relationship or close extra-curricular partnership, both of which work to my benefit to produce eventual snogging. And it seemed so obvious that Uhura would go seek him out.

Uhura is so determined and I love the enthusiasm she had and her practiced speech. :D ... and it seems she had an effect on Spock

Yeah, 'singular' is pretty much Vulcan for 'Hawt'.

Uhura is quickly becoming my favourite person in the world to write. She's Hermione with attitude.

Aww, she worked for three weeks learing that speech? So funny! And determined! Can't wait for more!

And still screwed up. She definitely needs practice. Definitely.

I'm thinking it was etymology that took her three weeks. Or, at least a part of that time. It's not a word you'd find in your bog standard Oxford English-to-Vulcan dictionary, I think.
