The last book in the series (I think, it's been a while since I've read them) has Uhura hiking up her skirt to show off her legs (I think they play raquet ball together or something) and Spock checking her out. Don't remember if that's this book or not. :D

There was one book in the series [I think the 3rd one] which had the line, "Spock smiled" about 3 or 4 times ... a rather inaccurate way of describing his amused or other "smiling" expression. It could give some readers the impression that he smiles outright, teeth and all ... but he smiles with that corner of his mouth, just uptilted a bit, and I didn't like that the author used such shorthand. He would've communicated Spock's essence better with a fuller description. [editorial rant over]
On the whole, I really enjoyed the three "Academy" novels and wish they'd do more of them. The first book was the best in the series though.
