I did say I was “gonna go fangirl on her ass” but I thought I would refrain and be a little mature about this whole thing *hyperventilates ( Read more... )

Wow. This was just amazing! Thank you so much because it really does address a lot of the issues I've been having with my writing. And you make a good point at the end, it's easy to feel pressured with writing and it is supposed to be fun! I think I forget that most of the time but now that I've been reminded I'm going to half to shift my thinking.

Thank you! :) It makes me happy if it helped you at all. We do tend to pressure ourselves as writer's to a great degree, but yes, it really hsould be for the fun :)

That was a wonderful, well thought and COMPLETLY ON THE SPOT post! Word! Wordy word-word!

I would just like to add something that has always helped me alot and that, in the long run, actually helps avoiding major bumps and writer's blocks. A simple idea: listen to your story.

You may have a certain idea, or even a certain scene in mind when you start writting, and that may even be the only reason you started to write that story in the beginning, but, while writting, that doesn't feel true to plot or characters; if during the spreading out of scenes, that thing in particular stands out like a sore thumb, be brave and let it go. Always respect what your story is telling you, because more often then not, the story itself will tell you the right way to go :D

That is VERY good advice. I've been in this situation more thna once myself; start with one scene and then as it goes on, that scene no longer fits and you have to axe it, sad as it is. Andyes, the story will usually guide you the way it's supposed to go. You just have to wait long enough to hear its voice.
